In addition to overall State Coach of the Year Mike Gonzales of El Toro, we have additional state coaching honors for the 2017 season going to Rich Henning from Christian Brothers of Sacramento and Jim Cleveland from Redwood Christian of San Lorenzo.

SoCal/NorCal Players of the Week
Both of this week’s baseball honorees — Tanner Cunha of Sacramento Christian Brothers and Josh Landry of Cypress — had no-hitters last week and one of those had a perfect game. The other one missed a perfect game by issuing a leadoff walk. Our two softball honorees are from Simi Valley and Manteca.
State Stat Stars of the Week
Two of this week’s leading performances on the boys side came in the same game for opposite teams as Jordan Roberts of Bakersfield Ridgeview poured in 46 points and so did West of Bakersfield’s Austyn Contreras. We really did try to have CIF state champions No. 1 in all five of these divisions, but weren’t going to switch teams in divisions to do it. Once we established which teams were in which of our five divisions based on section playoff divisions it didn’t seem fair to switch them around later on....
NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week
Big-time recruit Jaelan Phillips does something to get this week’s SoCal Defensive POW honor and get his name into the state record book. Our NorCal Offensive POW, meanwhile, throws for nearly 500 yards in 74-32 win. Other chosen this week are from Atherton, Petaluma, Villa Park and Santa Maria.
