Here are the choices from among those schools considered medium-size and small. Our medium schools honoree for this year won a CIF state title for the school he once played for while our small schools pick made history for becoming just the second coach in CIF state history to win state titles at two different […]

As is our tradition, we go through each of the 13 upcoming CIF state football championship games and provide a predicted final score. We think a lot of NorCal teams will be successful on the road and perhaps one of the biggest underdogs is team with six state titles in the last seven years.

NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week

Oakdale’s Will Semone isn’t close to the state leading rushing total of Riverside Norte Vista’s Eric Melesio, but in four playoff games he’s led the surging Mustangs by rushing for 1,162 yards. Other honored this week are from Bakersfield, Moraga, San Clemente, Harbor City and El Monte.

St. Mary’s being higher-ranked than Folsom proved to be correct as the Rams rolled over the Bulldogs 56-25 to win SJS Division I title. The bigger question for the section rankings, however, is what to do about Del Oro as it looks to win a second straight CIF state title. Should the Golden Eagles continue […]

CIF NorCal Bowl Board No. 8

Big move of the week is switching Sanger and Selma from the north to the south and vice-versa and we really liked how it balanced out both boards. Inderkum’s win over Sacramento and Capital Christian’s win over Sonora were the biggest shockers, but Merced’s win over Del […]

The fun part of these boards that it’s possible to run them in different combinations to see how they shape up. This week, we went back to using Bellarmine of San Jose as one of the projected three CCS Open Division champions. Next week, maybe we’ll put Sanger in the south and Bakersfield Christian in...

The SJS D1 playoff seedings went with Folsom at No. 1, but generally we don’t switch rankings to agree and still have St. Mary’s of Stockton at No. 1. The big mover as the regular season ends is Antelope, which is seeded third in the D2 playoffs behind only Sacramento and Del Oro and benefits […]
