REV It Up: Bruich State Coach of Year

For the first time on the list of state football coaches of the year that stretches back more than 100 years, we have a father-son combination as Redlands East Valley’s Kurt Bruich is the honoree for the 2014 season. His father, Dick, received the same honor after the 1989 season.

First CIF state title for REV

It’s another crazy finish as Clayton Valley of Concord is denied go-ahead TD with 4:12 left on a fumble. Redlands East Valley holds on for 34-33 win in CIF Division II state bowl game and earns first CIF state team title in any sport for the school.

Coaches on the move on all-time list

Guess who Mission Viejo head football coach Bob Johnson just passed on the state’s all-time career coaching wins list? That would be Dick Bruich, mostly of Fontana, whose son, Kurt, will be the head coach at Redlands East Valley on Friday trying to get a huge upset of Johnson’s team at Mission Viejo.
