Baseball, Softball State Top 20s

St. Francis of Mountain View moves to No. 1 for baseball while Mission Viejo stays No. 1 in softball. Results from Tuesday of this week were accounted for in both new rankings. Five new baseball teams and six new softball teams are now in the spotlight.

State Softball Teams of the Year

Inland Empire makes it four in a row with Santiago of Corona’s selection for this season. Others named are Chino (D2), Sierra of Manteca (D3), Aquinas of San Bernardino (D4) and Port of Los Angeles (D5).

Five newcomers from the preseason rankings, led by Great Oak of Temecula, make their mark as many of the preseason ranked teams have early losses. Mater Dei of Santa Ana holds on to final spot in this week’s list.

State Top 20 Girls BB Rankings (UPDATED)

Bubble teams and more complete writeups have been added as we take a deeper look at the state’s best girls teams. Windward vs. Mater Dei as a No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown can still happen, but it wouldn’t be a matchup of two unbeaten teams.

State Stat Stars of the Week

Future Husky gets 42 points to lead current Huskies in big win. Also among this week’s honor roll is Ashley Kelsick with another 56-point night, Chrishae Rowe with 43 for state-ranked Corona Santiago and Chiekh Ndiaye with a monster triple-double.
