The SJS D1 playoff seedings went with Folsom at No. 1, but generally we don’t switch rankings to agree and still have St. Mary’s of Stockton at No. 1. The big mover as the regular season ends is Antelope, which is seeded third in the D2 playoffs behind only Sacramento and Del Oro and benefits […]

CIF NorCal Bowl Board No. 4

Yes, yes the CCS is quite a mess with the possibility of a three-way tie in the West Catholic Athletic League, not to mention projecting ahead with a playoff points system that doesn’t reward teams for playing top-level opponents from outside of the section. St. Francis of the CCS is one of this week’s new...

With no problems at the top of the order and teams setting up showdown games for league titles, there was plenty of difficulty toward the bottom. Three new teams broke into the first 25 with two of them – Cosumnes Oaks and Tracy – going in for the first time all season. Anyone wishing to […]

Elk Grove bounces back from upset loss to Davis by beating previous No. 2 Grant 24-17. With Davis losing to Jesuit, it’s now reached that point in the season when teams can be ranked ahead of a team it has lost to. The Thundering Herd therefore get jumped back up into the top 10. Roseville, […]

It’s a second straight week of how to re-shuffle the section rankings after a massive upset, in this case Davis beating previous section No. 3 Elk Grove 16-14. The Blue Devils get rewarded for the win, but so does one team they lost to earlier in the season, Woodcreek of Roseville. Anyone wishing to see […]

Sac High pulls off stunner in Folsom

The host Bulldogs had not lost to a CIF Sac-Joaquin Section opponent since 2011 and had not lost in a regular season game since earlier in that same season. Two defensive touchdowns by the Dragons helped pave the way for the win.

Since the great Joe Davidson of the Sac Bee doesn’t seem to be doing a CIF Sac-Joaquin Section rankings package this year for MaxPreps and we’re physically located within the confines of the SJS in Stockton, we thought this week, “Why not?” Anyone wishing to see writeups and breakdowns of the top teams in the […]
