Carondelet of Concord swimmer is the 2012-13 Cal-Hi Sports Girls Athlete of the Year. She is headed to the world championships to participate alongside Olympic heroes from last summer and just completed record-breaking senior season. She’s also the second State Athlete of the Year from Carondelet in eight years.

State School of the Year: Mater Dei
Serra of Gardena led with three CIF state titles, but this time Mater Dei’s overall excellence beats the Cavaliers and every other school in California. It’s the Monarchs’ fourth State School of the Year honor.

Torrey Pines tops the charts for girls sports, Loyola does it for boys sports only while other honorees include Archbishop Mitty (D2), Cathedral Catholic of San Diego (D3), Serra of Gardena (D4) and St. Joseph Notre Dame of Alameda (D5). Ten more schools also designated special mention for overall athletic excellence.
