All-State Softball: 2nd Team, 3rd Team
Our 31st annual all-state teams package for softball includes 30 players named second team overall plus 35 more who are third team. The third team, however, is only for seniors and only for large schools.

These players were the best of the best for California high schools among teams that were considered Division III, Division IV or Division V for the state rankings. This is the 31st consecutive year for Cal-Hi Sports all-state teams in softball.

All-State Baseball Nominees (Part 2)
It’s time to get out the list of updated, final nominees for the 33rd annual Cal-Hi Sports all-state baseball teams. We are choosing the teams later this week, but it’s still not too late for a coach or parent to send in a nomination.
More Baseball Players of the Year
Dominic Smith of Gardena Serra edges Oaks Christian’s Phil Bickford in not one but two categories. Others nabbing honors are from Kerman, College Park of Pleasant Hill and San Ysidro.
All-State Football: First Team
De La Salle and Narbonne both pocket two choices with Gauchos’ Troy Williams getting coveted quarterback position. We also go with Mater Dei’s Thomas Duarte as a receiver to free up extra slot for multi-purpose player.
All-State Football: Second, Third Teams
Mission Viejo, Rancho Cucamonga, Oceanside, Crenshaw, Marin Catholic and Serra of Gardena add second-teamers to first-team honorees. There are 90 players in all who collect all-state status within this post.
Mr. Football 2012: Michael Hutchings
Linebacker for the Spartans also turned heads on special teams and made big plays in the last three CIF Open Division state bowl games. He’s the fourth State Player of the Year from the school.
