This collection of 30 players represents the best of the best in California for 2013, regardless of year in school or size of school. Several of them also have earned career listings in the Cal-Hi Sports state record book.

Our 31st annual all-state teams package for softball includes 30 players named second team overall plus 35 more who are third team. The third team, however, is only for seniors and only for large schools.

All-State Softball: Medium, Small
These players were the best of the best for California high schools among teams that were considered Division III, Division IV or Division V for the state rankings. This is the 31st consecutive year for Cal-Hi Sports all-state teams in softball.

All-State Softball Nominees (Part 2)
Here are the updated, final nominees on our board as the selections for this year’s Cal-Hi Sports all-state softball teams get finalized this week. This will be the 31st annual year of this honors program. It’s still not too late to send in an opinion.
Ms. Softball 2013: Kylie Reed
Extremely close race for the Cal-Hi Sports Ms. Softball State Player of the Year honor goes to the girl with the most speed. Norco’s Kylie Reed, headed to Cal, also is the best we’ve seen in person as a slap-hitting, left-handed leadoff hitter.
More State Softball Players of the Year
Sophomores nab top honors for medium schools and small schools, but neither of them is the State Sophomore of the Year. Best for juniors and frosh, meanwhile, both go to the East Bay.
Santiago No. 2 in final FAB 50 softball
Sharks are behind only Red Mountain of Arizona in original 50-team deep final national rankings. Four other California teams are in the top 10 and there are 13 that made the cut above 50. FAB 50 national rankings will be back every week next season.

Chino’s Mike Smith earns top statewide overall honor for 2013 season and learns of it after being released from the hospital. We also congratulate medium schools and small schools state coaches of the year.
