For baseball, Vince Fitzgerald from Canyon of Canyon Country ties a state record while Theron Kay from Valley Christian of San Jose does it all in win over Archbishop Mitty.
Baseball, Softball State Top 20s
St. Francis of Mountain View moves to No. 1 for baseball while Mission Viejo stays No. 1 in softball. Results from Tuesday of this week were accounted for in both new rankings. Five new baseball teams and six new softball teams are now in the spotlight.

O.C. Teams Start 1-2 In Softball
Preseason State Top 20 in softball finds three Orange County schools among the top five, led by No. 1 Mission Viejo and No. 2 Pacifica. Amador Valley will start No. 1 in Northern California for an obvious reason.
More Girls State Athletes of the Year
Sarah Baxter of Simi Valley continues phenomenal career as a distance runner and tops the state’s list for juniors. We also have honorees for sophs, frosh and for each of the five CIF enrollment divisions.
More State Schools of the Year
Torrey Pines tops the charts for girls sports, Loyola does it for boys sports only while other honorees include Archbishop Mitty (D2), Cathedral Catholic of San Diego (D3), Serra of Gardena (D4) and St. Joseph Notre Dame of Alameda (D5). Ten more schools also designated special mention for overall athletic excellence.
