Yeah, we do try to avoid picking the big-time recruits for these honors in favor of those that might more need the love, but just couldn’t resist a salute to what Oaks Christian’s Michael Pittman Jr. did in his final prep performance. Others gaining honors are from Hayward, Loomis, Galt, Redondo Beach and San Diego.

One QB from Newport Beach ties a state record for going 23-for-23 in a single game while another from North Highlands (near Sacramento) makes the state record book for surpassing 4,000 yards of rushing and passing. Addional honorees are from Vacaville, San Francisco, Quartz Hill and Murrieta.

It wasn’t a huge outing but we salute Sacramento High QB Caden Voges for becoming just the sixth in state history to reach 10,000 passing yards for career. Others collecting this honor this week are from Newman, Moraga, Gardena, San Clemente and Anaheim.

Eight TD passes and a reported 536 yards gets Palm Springs’ Will Olvera into the record books, but it’s his championship pedigree that is most deserving of recognition. Others collecting this honor this week are from Culver City, Atascadero, Orinda, San Jose and Bakersfield.

It’s a Unique choice for one of this week’s best as Cordova’s Unique Perez amasses nearly 500 yards of passing and rushing with seven touchdowns. Others gaining the nod are from Modesto, Bakersfield, San Juan Capistrano, Westlake Village and Banning.
