SoCal/NorCal Players of the Week

Possibly two of our six picks for this week also are getting added to the all-time state record book. Clark Phillips of La Habra is going in as a state record co-holder with three interception return TDs. Isaah Crocker from Inderkum of Sacramento may go in with a 99-yard missed field goal return TD. Others […]

For the third week in a row, our NorCal Special Teams Player of the Week from Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland ran back a punt for touchdown. Our SoCal choice in that category from San Diego Lincoln had three kick return scores in just last week’s game. Other honorees this week are from Santa Rosa, Sacramento, […]

NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week

We honestly didn’t know until after picking this week’s two NorCal/SoCal Offensive Players of the Week that their brothers are teammates on the depth chart of quarterbacks up at Washington State. Ryan Hilinski (Orange Lutheran) and Nathan Gordon (Pacifica Terra Nova) are quarterbacks as well and both are out to strong starts this season. Other […]

We also write up girls who led their teams to section softball titles in Stockton and San Diego plus a former catcher who’s now mowing down hitters as a pitcher. We hope you enjoy this free story on Cal-Hi […]

SoCal/NorCal Players of the Week

The trick for this week’s selections is to give preference to those players who sparked their teams to section titles that already are in the books or to those players who aren’t in elimination playoff games at the time we’re getting these honors out. It’s not as if Dalton Smith (Chico), Jeremey Rivera (L.A. Locke), […]

NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week

Three of this week’s choices — Jack Hinrichsen of Sacramento McClatchy (no-hitters), Dante Faicchio of Laguna Beach (doubles) and Ally Shipman of Valencia (home runs) — may be on their way to placing high in all-time state career record listings. The other, San Jose Archbishop Mitty sophomore Hannah Edwards, is on her way to playing […]

SoCal/NorCal Players of the Week

Both of this week’s baseball honorees — Tanner Cunha of Sacramento Christian Brothers and Josh Landry of Cypress — had no-hitters last week and one of those had a perfect game. The other one missed a perfect game by issuing a leadoff walk. Our two softball honorees are from Simi Valley and Manteca.
