Select Section Finals Picks (Boys)
On the eve of California’s numerous CIF section championship games in boys basketball, we pick one key game from each of the biggest sections and then predict a final score. If anyone wants to watch these games, many also are available on the NFHS Network and for Cal-Hi Sports users only we are continuing to […]
Coaches Speak: More CIF Bowl Games
In a non-scientific survey of top football coaches from around the state who responded to a questionnaire we sent out last week, there appears to be a majority of them who are not supportive of that many teams potentially playing 16-game schedules.
Sac-Joaquin All-Time FB Top 10
This is a ranking of the 10 greatest teams in section history with the key word of this criteria being “greatest” and not “best.” This year’s Folsom team was indeed great, but not quite as great as a team actually from the same school district. Go inside this post as well for details on our […]
More State Football Players of the Year
Check inside this post for the honorees who have been chosen among juniors, sophomores, medium schools and small schools. One league in the Bay Area has nabbed two of these four player of the year selections.
Final Five-Division State FB Rankings

Top-ranked De La Salle of Concord wins its sixth CIF state bowl game with a 63-42 victory over No. 2 Corona Centennial that sets a CIF bowl game record for combined points. Centennial turns the ball over on three straight possessions in the second half and high-octane offense can’t overcome miscues.
First CIF state title for REV
It’s another crazy finish as Clayton Valley of Concord is denied go-ahead TD with 4:12 left on a fumble. Redlands East Valley holds on for 34-33 win in CIF Division II state bowl game and earns first CIF state team title in any sport for the school.
Campolindo gets stunning win
Cougars were down 28-7 in the third quarter to El Capitan of Lakeside in CIF Division III state bowl game but stage the biggest second-half comeback in the nine years of the CIF bowl games with 35-28 triumph. They won it on an 85-yard fumble return with 52 seconds left, too.
D-Line Turns It ON For Folsom
In the Bulldogs’ 68-7 win over Oceanside for the CIF Division I state championship, there were some anxious moments early before defensive pressure led to Pirate mistakes, then the vaunted offense took over. Jake Browning ends historic season with 91 TD passes for the season (a national record tie) and 229 TD passes for career […]
