State No. 19 Pittsburg looks like a solid No. 2 in the CIF North Coast Section behind De La Salle and won Friday 42-28 over San Ramon Valley of Danville despite missing several starters.
CIF Bowl teams collide: Folsom wins
Folsom and Clayton Valley of Concord, two teams which last played in the CIF state bowl games, went down to the wire in a Friday season opener. The host Bulldogs won 27-26 but it took a touchdown with 1:12 left and it was a far cry from last year’s monster routs.
Final Shout-Out For Bay Area Football
No, we didn’t forget to do final S.F. Bay Area football rankings. We just had to wait for the primary compiler to get done helping run the largest girls basketball tournament in the nation. In the final Top 25 for the region, the biggest question was where to put 16-0 Campolindo of Moraga.
NorCal No. 1 beats NorCal No. 2
The title game of Tuesday’s Platinum Division at the West Coast Jamboree matched the early leaders in Northern California girls basketball and saw youthful St. Mary’s of Stockton defeat senior-laden St. Ignatius of San Francisco.
