Girls BB: No. 2 Rams top Vegas club

It’s no secret the main goal of this year’s team at St. Mary’s of Stockton is to win the program’s second CIF Open Division state title. The Rams seemed to take a step in the right direction toward that goal with a 78-61 victory over Centennial of Las Vegas on Saturday in one of the featured games at their own MLK St. Mary’s Showcase.

Girls BB: Frosh emerges at MLK event

In a matchup between state’s No. 5 and No. 7 girls teams on Saturday at the St. Mary’s MLK Showcase in Stockton, No. 7 Harvard-Westlake tops No. 5 Salesian of Richmond thanks to a breakout performance from freshman Oki Iriafen.

It’s taken us awhile because we’re not a big company nor are we part of a big network, but we are proud that beginning this week our CalHiSports.com website can now be viewed on a much more mobile-friendly platform for users looking at our content on their phones.

All of our various features, such as weekly state rankings, state record updates, NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week, All-State Team updates and more previously could be viewed on phones, but required users to perform much more frequent magnifying moves and much more side-by-side navigation.

Carson Palmer’s SoCal Legacy

Whenever there’s been a highly regarded quarterback coming out of Southern California, the phrase “best since John Elway” has been quoted often. Elway, who is from Granada Hills and is rightly referred to as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, played at the high school level in 1978 and 1979, although his senior season was cut short by injury.

Mater Dei: 126th State Team of Year

With the CIF Open Division state championship eliminating all rankings debate, adding the annual champion to the all-time State Team of the Year list is just one of the added bonuses. We have a feeling that CIF Southern Section teams Mater Dei and St. John Bosco might be trading this selection between each other for the next few years.
