Boys BB: Coaches close to history

Carson Palmer’s SoCal Legacy
Whenever there’s been a highly regarded quarterback coming out of Southern California, the phrase “best since John Elway” has been quoted often. Elway, who is from Granada Hills and is rightly referred to as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, played at the high school level in 1978 and 1979, although his senior season was cut short by injury.

Boys BB: Major Showcase Schedules
In November, we will begin to release our preseason 2017-18 Cal-Hi Sports boys basketball state rankings. As a preview to how things could shake out, here is a list of the major 2017-18 tournaments and classics involving California teams that figure to be ranked. Greatest NorCal NFL Players
Over the years California has produced countless athletes that have gone on to have extremely successful careers in their chosen sport. Football has always been extremely popular in the Golden State, and many of the game’s elite players started their journey right there. There is an overwhelming number of fantastic schools across the state, such as Long Beach Poly, Dorsey of Los Angeles, and De La Salle in Concord, just a few of the many quality education facilities that have been continually producing tomorrow’s superstars on a regular basis over the last century.

Mater Dei: 126th State Team of Year
With the CIF Open Division state championship eliminating all rankings debate, adding the annual champion to the all-time State Team of the Year list is just one of the added bonuses. We have a feeling that CIF Southern Section teams Mater Dei and St. John Bosco might be trading this selection between each other for the next few years.

CIF Football Finals: Pick ’em Winners
Here are the teams we are predicting to win in this weekend’s CIF state football championships. We don’t know about any injuries that may have occurred in previous game or this week in practice. These are all made with utmost respect to all teams involved. If anyone wants to add their picks in comments below, feel free. If anyone goes 13-for-13, we’ll give out prizes but not sure how many that might be.

FINAL CIF Sac-Joaquin Sec Top 20
Once again, since the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section is the one for our home base in Stockton, we have put together a weekly Top 20 in football for that section this season. This will be the final rankings for the 2017 season since both Folsom and Placer won’t change for final rankings whether they win or lose in CIF state finals. Placer already has been given a bump for beating Salinas and beating Crenshaw of Los Angeles wouldn’t move the Hillmen up any further.
