Although the Women’s College World Series is down to the final two teams from the University of Michigan and University of Florida, it should come as no shock there are far more players from California high schools still playing than from any other state.

This week’s SoCal softball honoree also has slugged her way to a listing in the state record book. Our other three selections are from Lincoln, Fortuna and Norco.

One of this week’s choices is a senior from San Diego who is coached by a former MLB pitcher with a perfect game. Our other three honorees are from San Mateo, San Pedro and Merced.

Playing the name game, we’ve got a boy and girl this week with almost the same first name as Morgan Monashefsky of S.F. Sacred Heart and Morganne Flores of Santa Ana Mater Dei are among this week’s honorees. Our other two are from El Cajon and Lodi.
