NEW Girls BB State Top 20 Ranks
We could have shaken things up even more from the preseason top five and while there is a change in that group the real changes are after that and particularly in the second 10 where it seems like teams not expected to lose have tanked and the who-beat-whom syndrome dropped a lot of teams from […]
NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week
Our weekly honors switch this week from football to boys and girls basketball where it’s usually the case that we’re looking for tournament MVPs. The two boys winners definitely fit that description from the Gridley Invitational Basketball Tournament and that Father Barry Classic in Carmichael. For the girls, we have a top returnee from a […]
SoCal/NorCal Players of the Week
This week marks the final group of football players we are honoring for this weekly feature for this season. Next week, we are switching to boys and girls basketball and will be writing one one boy and one girl each for Northern and Southern California. Even though the pickings can be slim for football with […]
NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week
For the first time we believe in the four years we’ve been doing NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week we have two of them who are brothers. This because it was possible this week for us to honor Caine Savage from Western of Anaheim for SoCal offense and his twin brother, Cassius, for SoCal special teams. […]
Preseason Girls BB State Ranks (1-15)
With the multitude of transfers changing the landscape, it took a lot of digging once we got past the first few teams but one thing that didn’t change from the final expanded rankings after last season was the top three teams: Windward of Los Angeles, Archbishop Mitty of San Jose and Pinewood of Los Altos […]
Preseason Girls BB Ranks (16-40)
There ended up being 10 new teams that were not this high in the state rankings at the finish of the 2017-18 season. The CIF San Diego Section snagged four of the spots taken by newcomers. We don’t have a bubble list with this set of preseason rankings, but trust us that a lot of […]
NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week
It may be from an 8-person contest, but what running back Yaiden Ochoa and his teammates from Hillcrest Christian of Thousand Oaks did to honor the 12 victims of last week’s awful Borderline Bar shooting in their hometown was too much not to give a huge tip of the hat. It’s not often someone rushes […]
SoCal/NorCal Players of the Week
Even though these weekly honors are specific for offense, defense and special teams, it’s often hard not to consider what players have done in all facets of the game. You can say at least four of our six this week fall into that category. We also have a QB who was part of the highest […]
NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week
Three of the players being honored this week are from teams that just completed the regular season with undefeated records. We also have one who did a great deal to prevent another team from doing the same. It’s a group representing Sacramento, Eureka, Clovis, Simi Valley, Westlake Village and Sherman Oaks.
SoCal/NorCal Players of the Week
Coming off of a three-week absence due to injury may not have ever been done better than what Sean McDonald of Ramona High did last Friday. Plus, we’re honoring one of three CIF Central Section QBs who should surpass 10,000 career yards on the same night this week. This week’s group in all also comes […]
