NorCal/SoCal Players of the Week
Just like we did during the football and basketball seasons, we are going to do our best to spread around these honors as much as possible with one boy and one girl chosen from each region in baseball and softball. This week’s best are from Atherton, Los Angeles, Salinas and Carson.
State Stat Stars of the Week
Alyssa Palomino of Mission Viejo gets to 53 homers for softball career to tie the state record. Among others in this honor roll are Cole Acosta of Santa Fe Christian and Easton Lucas from Grace Brethren of Simi Valley for baseball and Anissa Lopez from University Prep of Victorville for softball.

Saturday CIF Girls Finals
Relentless St. Mary’s of Stockton wins its first CIF Open Division title and eighth overall with a comeback against Mater Dei. In Division II, Archbishop Mitty powers to sixth crown, while in Division IV a dynamic duo caps 3-for-4 career in state titles for Sierra Canyon.
Friday CIF Boys Finals
San Ramon Valley gives city of Danville another Division I state title but it takes two overtimes this time. Damien earns Division III state title to go with Baseline League crown. In Division V, Sierra Canyon way too much for S.F. University.
Friday CIF Girls Finals
McClatchy wins first state title with thrilling triumph in two overtimes in Division I final. Senior guards take over in second half for Bishop O’Dowd in Division III triumph. Shot-blocking leads La Jolla Country Day to win in Division V.
