Calhi: why aren’t the Regional games played at one site like the State games? This would allow fans a chance to see more of the games.
Who is #6 in your SoCal Div 1 rankings??? OSIDE seeking revenge on MH @The Q!!!
You would need to upgrade to gold club to find out. Either way the SD open division champ will most likely face the Inland section champ in the regionals. Unless Serra somehow trips up in the playoffs, then all bets are off. That’s just my opinion. Let’s Go Pirates!
I agree, if everything plays out like it should, 2, 3, and 4 will be eliminated leaving Bosco alone at the top. If Oceanside takes care of business Centennial looks like the regional playoff opponent. Centennial definitely looks legit, but their beatable. That would be a great game!
You do not have to upgrade for me to answer a question. No. 6 in that division this week is going to be Mission Hills, followed by Vista M, then Oside. If Oside avenges the earlier loss and beats Mission, no doubt it would get one of the two D1 bowl bids for the South unless Serra of Gardena gets upset and doesn’t go up to the Open Division. If Serra were to lose, the debate then switches over which team would move up to the Open Division to play the Pac-5/Bosco. My guess is that it would be Centennial if it won the Inland Division but that it would be San Diego Open if Vista Murrieta wins the Inland Division.
So as long as O’side wins the SD Open Division they will most likely have one of the D-I Southern Regional spots locked up?
hey J what up? cant wait for the PIRATES to put a clinic on grizzlies I can smell fear on them they definitely don’t want to face us again.
and after they do that clinic against the grizzlies IT WILL BE BEND OVER TIME AND BE 0-18 AGAINST THE GREATEST PROGRAM OF ALL TIME … YOU DONT THINK WE KNOW NEXT SAT IS THE 22 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THAT FAMOUS GAME YOU HAD THAT HORSE SHOE UP YOU A…. AND KNOCKED DE LA SALLE OFF 35-27 ???? CANT WAIT TO SEE PITTSBURG GET TAUGHT A LESSON AGAIN !!!!!
I think the Pirate comment you are referring to is about Oceanside, not Pitt.
That is the way it looks to me.
me too… lol
pirates are from pittsburg and grizzlies are cal hi / what an amazing coincidence guys
either way im right no matter if the same two teams are from so cal
Thanks Mark. Lets plan on Serra on winning out…even though SF gave them a run for their money a few weeks back. It would be a very good matchup of VM/CC versus Oside. What does the NorCal Regional D1 look like? Any good teams to compete with SoCal D1?
After what they did to Mitty, I’d say Serra of San Mateo could compete and might beat the SD Open winner or Corona Centennial or Vista Murrieta. Very physical squad. Not as sure about the Sac-Joaquin D2 teams. That wasn’t the real Del Oro that played down in San Diego, but not sure they could hang with the others.
COLLISON COURSE …. DE LA SALLE VS ST JOHN BOSCO…. MAYBE THE BEST
ADVERTIZE GAME SINCE….. DE LA SALLE VS LONG BEACH POLY 2001
tony, I would agree.
Mark, can you please explain to norcal fan that the Pac5 playoffs is extremely cruel when it comes to establishing the best team in a State Bowl Game BCS type system? DeLaSalle plays joke after joke each week in the playoffs while the Pac5 eliminates 7 of the 8 top teams in California as each round goes. Same thing with Folsom’s bracket. Then, a regional game eliminates one more. By the time the So Cal teams have played far more difficult playoff brackets most of the top teams are gone so it looks like the North actually compares. In a blind 32 team tournament where teams were selected regardless of division I doubt any team other than Folsom and DLS would even make the semifinals every year. This system is not fair for the So. Cal teams.
Yea, SJB has really struggled in that PAC5 “gauntlet”. Up next is the charming soft Alemany Indians, I mean, Warriors. Let me know when the Braves break a sweat.
DARIN B I AGREE WITH YOU … I THINK THEY SHOULD TURN THE CALIFORNIA PLAYOFFS LIKE MARCH MADNESS … AND ANYONE CAN PLAY ANYONE THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THE TRAVELING. AND THESE KIDS HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL….. I ALSO THINK LONG BEACH POLY WILL BEAT MATER DEI AND ( YOU NEVER KNOW ) UPSET ST JOHN BOSCO ? THEY BEAT THEM LAST YEAR… WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS THE WEEK ST JOHN BOSCO PLAYS LONG BEACH POLY ? … WE ALL SAW HOW UNKOWN PALO ALTO BEAT CENTENNIAL A FEW YEARS AGO
Southern California typically has a lot more depth of top teams than NorCal in every sport and the CIFSS punctuates that by usually creating a top division in which its best teams tend to play each other. We just had the volleyball regionals start last night, for example, and there are four or five CIFSS teams that are done for the season that lost in the D1AA playoffs that easily would be good enough to compete for enrollment-based state titles. The Pac-5 in football is the same. The only caveat to all of that is that De La Salle football is the greatest high school athletic program ever created — probably in the entire nation — and in the last 25 years would have 15 or 16 state titles no matter what system we had. There’s often only one or two schools in the state — like maybe Bosco this year — that can give them a game each season and maybe just 8 to 10 in the nation. This has been going on since about 1990 other than 2004 and 2005.
DLS is the epitome of hs football. It’s hard to root against them unless it’s your team playing them. Great program to emulate.
i dont think its fair that for the 8th year in a row that no cal teams have to travel
to so cal …. i could be wrong but when they introduce the state bowl games they claimed it would switch off every year … play one year in so cal and then they play the next year in no cal ? that never happened …. its like home game for de la salle… 7 years in a row .. traveling 400 miles … st john bosco can walk to the game…… thats sad that folsom and de la salle may have to play again .. both teams should be representing the north
It was never claimed that the bowl games would switch every year. In all sports, the CIF chooses the best bid for state title venues and usually signs 3-year deals. The next 3-year deal for the bowl games, however, is believed to be going to Sacramento State. Eventually, you will see state bowl games in the north and also state basketball games in the south.
WHEN THEY TALKED ABOUT IT BACK IN 2005 THEY HAD MENTION IT WOULD BE A GAMES SOUTH VS THE NORTH AND THEY WOULD SWITCH OFF SITES .. BUT A FEW WEASELS FROM THE SOUTH DECIDED THAT IT A GREAT IDEA TO KEEP IT THERE … IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE SOME OF THE LA SCHOOLS DO SOME TRAVELING … EITHER WAY THEY DONT DRAW .. HOME DEPOT CENTER AND NOW ITS CALLED STUB HUB HAVE 75 % EMPTY FOR EACH GAME.. SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES WHAT A JOKE.. AND THE PEOPLE THAT RUN THE SHOW HAVE RETARDNESS ON HOW THEY SELECT THE TEAMS EXAMPLE SERRA GARDENA ONE OF THE TOP RANKED TEAMS MATCHED UP WITH DIV 3 SCHOOL OAKDALE UHHHHHHHHHHH REAL FAIR ????? MOST GAMES ARE BORING THEY NEED TO WAKE UP ON THE MATCH UPS
TonydeezLS5150 With cities going bankrupt in NorCal who’d want to go to Norcal anyway?? Just because you’re stuck up there doesn’t mean everybody else wants to share in your misery. More depth, more teams, more competition, that’s why it’s here in SoCal.
San Bernardino is the second-largest city to declare bankruptcy in California and it’s not in Northern California. The football games are going to be at Sac State someday soon so this is a silly argument.
Lets say inderkum win out. Yuba city and Pleasant Grove have travel very very far in the playoffs. With strength of schedule what is the possibility inderkum jumps enterprise?
It’s certainly getting better for Inderkum. Yuba City is really helping them out. And who knows, maybe the Honkers will win out, too.
SDS D1 semi’s tonight, pulling for Ramona over Cathedral. Either way it’s a north county final in D1 and open division. North County football is where it’s at in SD. We run this mutha….
Congrats 2 CDM SEA KINGS……. Div III team makin’ tha noise! Back 2 Back CIF Champions goin’ 4 ta 3-Peat! Corona del Mar 23 straight victories……
