Defeated St. Mary’s (Stockton) 40-13. RECAP HERE.
2. (2) Centennial (Corona) 2-1
Lost to No. 18 Long Beach Poly (Long Beach) 35-28. It was a matchup of two CIFSS champions from last year and in this one the Centennial offense was held down, probably wishing it saved some of those yards from the week before.
3. (3) St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 3-0
Defeated Chandler (Chandler, Ariz.) 52-31 Saturday at Mission Viejo Classic. With Centennial losing and Serra going to overtime, the Braves will be an easy choice to move up to No. 2 in the next rankings.
4. (4) Serra (Gardena) 3-0
Defeated Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) 20-13 (2 OTs). This is one of those efforts in which ND will get rewarded and thoughts will be made about moving up Folsom in front of the Cavaliers. RECAP HERE.
5. (5) Folsom 3-0
Defeated Roseville 56-23 as Jake Browning throws seven touchdown passes for second time this season. He already has 16 in three games.
6. (7) Vista Murrieta (Murrieta) 2-0
Defeated Yucaipa 52-13. The Broncos might drop in the next rankings, though, due to Servite and Long Beach Poly having to come up.
7. (9) Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 3-0
Defeated Carson 33-0. The Monarchs are one of five Trinity League teams that won on Friday with St. John Bosco coming up on Saturday.
8. (11) Mission Viejo 3-0
Defeated FAB 50 No. 45 Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) 25-22 in overtime on Saturday at Mission Viejo Classic. This avenges a loss from two years ago to the Ironmen in Jersey.
9. (13) St. Bonaventure (Ventura) 2-1
Defeated Redlands East Valley (Redlands) 35-14. According to Twitter reports, QB Ricky Town was on the sidelines and holding crutches.
10. (8) Oceanside 2-1
Defeated Chaparral (Temecula) 35-17. This was a good win for the Pirates since Chaparral beat them last season.
11. (12) Bellarmine (San Jose) 2-0
Defeated San Leandro 31-21. The Bells beat their second straight East Bay opponent.
12. (15) Alemany (Mission Hills) 3-0
Defeated Narbonne (Harbor City) 42-14. It’s not the same Narbonne team as last year, but still a solid win for the Warriors.
13. (16) Oaks Christian (Westlake Village) 3-0
Defeated Venice 49-39. Get out the abacus, calculators and every other stat-keeping device for next week when the Lions will play No. 23 Chaminade.
14. Palo Alto 1-0
Defeated San Benito (Holliser) 28-7. QB Keller Chryst with a pair of TD passes.
15. Elk Grove 4-0
Defeated Del Campo (Fair Oaks) 38-13 on Saturday. Last year in this game the Thundering Herd won by just 20-16.
16. Bishop Amat (La Puente) 2-1
Lost to Rancho Cucamonga 32-29. The Cougars are now 3-0 and are emerging as a possible third team out of the Inland Empire after Centennial and Vista Murrieta.
17. Servite (Anaheim) 2-1
Defeated La Mirada 38-14. With Poly beating Centennial, the Friars can only go way up. Their loss in the opener was to Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas.
18. (6) Long Beach Poly (Long Beach) 2-1
Defeated No. 2 Centennial (Corona) 35-28. The Jackrabbits were No. 6 before they lost to Servite and will have to stay behind Servite in the next rankings due to the head-to-head loss. They won at Mission Viejo, the same field where Poly knocked off Mission Viejo last year in the first round of the CIFSS Pac-5 playoffs.
19. (NR) Serra (San Mateo) 0-1
Did not play. If the DLS sideline folks are an indication, Bellarmine, Palo Alto and the rest of the CCS might need to watch out for the Padres, especially when they get their full lineup healthy.
20. (20) Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) 3-0
Defeated Nevada Union (Grass Valley) 62-7. Kind of sad what has happened this year to NU, but at least the Miners scored and kept alive their state record of scoring in consecutive games.
21. (23) Bakersfield 2-1
Defeated Garces (Bakersfield) 56-7. The Drillers looked good and have lost only to Oaks Christian and by one point.
22. (NR) Hart (Newhall) 2-0
Did not play. The Indians’ league strength took a hit, though, with Valencia losing badly on Thursday.
23. (12) Chaminade (West Hills) 2-1
Defeated Valencia 56-34 on Thursday night as Brad Kaaya passed for 434 yards and four touchdowns.
24. (10) Granite Bay 1-1
Defeated Freedom (Oakley) 47-20.
