The re-launch of CalHiSports.com rings in a new era for California’s longest-running high school sports media entity.
What began as a hobby for Cal-Hi Sports founder Nelson Tennis in the 1970s became a weekly newsletter, then became part of a national magazine/network and then part of ESPN has now become the most comprehensive website in its history.
Since Cal-Hi Sports separated from ESPN in 2012, our one-of-a-kind content has been published in a blog-style format.
This new, re-launched website gives us the ability to provide more of what our readers want and provides the base for Cal-Hi Sports’ future growth.
In addition to the weekly rankings, all-state teams, state stat stars, features and game highlights, plans for this site include the development of the state’s first on-line, continuously updated state record book and the addition of recruiting coverage in the major sports we cover — football, boys basketball, girls basketball, baseball and softball.
We offer exclusive memberships for a low fee, but all of the weekly state rankings and many other items will be continued without any sign ups necessary. You can also sign up for a free profile that allows you to interact with us via our message boards!
There are many other ways for someone to support our cause. Check our our CalHiSports.com Store (partnered with Amazon.com) and consider buying a product through it. Within two weeks, our own Cal-Hi Sports-produced e-book, “California: The Baseball Capital of the World,” will be available. In addition, individual schools can join us in our quest to begin as many athletic halls of fame as possible. Finally, if you have a business centered in California with plans of statewide growth, we can custom-design a sponsorship program for you.
Special thanks to web developer James Kerti for his efforts in building our new home. Thanks also to managing editor Ronnie Flores, associate editor Harold Abend, assistant editor Paul Muyskens, and art director Jennifer Ezpeleta for their work.
We invite everyone to spend some extra time clicking around our new site and check out why a Gold Club Membership may be for you. Let us know what you like, what you don’t like and why. We’ll attempt to can fix anything you might not like and answer every question.
Thank you,
