State Stat Stars of the Week

Reese Ruvalcaba of La Habra (right) hit three homers in a game last week and her team this week has won its league title. At right is pitcher Jack Anker of Tulare Western, who struck out 18 in a game and is a Fresno State recruit. Photos: SportsRecruits.com & Twitter.com.

This feature serves as our statewide collection of milestone achievements in California high school sports. For softball this week, we have more than one girl who had three homers in one game plus the end of a long league losing streak that was at least 153 games in length. For baseball, the big story is Marco Lopez from San Diego Hoover with 21 strikeouts (every out) in a seven-inning game. It is a tie for a section record, but believe it or not there is a state record total that is higher.
