On a night when No. 2 St. John Bosco topped No. 3 Servite and when No. 5 Mission Viejo dominated in a league title showdown, much of the state’s strongest reactions surrounded No. 25 Inglewood’s score in triumph vs. Morningside of Inglewood. The highest ranked team to get upset was No. 19 Folsom falling to Granite Bay in the Sac-Joaquin Section. No key Saturday games took place, but added reactions to pairings from CIF San Diego & CIF Central Sections.

1. Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 8-0
Defeated JSerra (San Juan Capistrano) 56-14. All the stars — Elijah Brown, Raleek Brown, Ajon Bryant and C.J. Williams — all had their moments in a game the Monarchs led 42-7 at halftime. Their last two TDs were by the defense.
2. St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 9-1
Defeated No. 3 Servite 24-10. The Bosco defense put the clamps on Servite’s QB-WR duo of Noah Fifita and Tetairoa McMillan while the offense got two scramble-style 50 and 49-yard TD passes from Pierce Clarkson. These two will likely meet again in three weeks in the CIF Southern Section D1 semifinals.
3. Servite (Anaheim) 8-2
LOST to No. 2 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 24-10. The only TD on the night by the Friars came on a TD catch by Mikey Welsh. Servite just can’t quite get over the hump with the big two, but there still probably will be one shot left.
4. Centennial (Corona) 10-0
Defeated Corona 64-0 on Thursday. The Huskies led 50-0 at halftime. It’s curious whether the coaching staff has been prepping for a game with Mission Viejo coming next in the CIFSS D1 playoffs.

5. Mission Viejo 9-1
The Diablos blasted No. 38 San Clemente 45-0. They avenged a loss to the Tritons last spring and won another South Coast League title.
6. Serra (San Mateo) 8-0
Defeated Sacred Heart Cathedral (San Francisco) 36-7 on Thursday night in SF. The Padres will have an extra day to get ready for No. 7 St. Francis (Mountain View) for game one week from Saturday at Serra.
7. St. Francis (Mountain View) 8-0
Head coach Greg Calcagno’s squad had little issue with Archbishop Mitty (San Jose) in a 45-0 blowout on Friday. This victory sets up the clash with No. 6 Serra (San Mateo) next week for the West Catholic Athletic League title.
8. De La Salle (Concord) 7-2
The Spartans picked up their first shutout on the season, as they dispatched Amador Valley (Pleasanton) 41-0 this week on Friday.
9. Rocklin 10-0
Defeated Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) 56-7 on Thursday. It’s only the second unbeaten regular season in school history. The Thunder already had won the Sierra Foothill League title and should now be No. 1 seed for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section D1 playoffs.
10. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth) 5-4
The team heads to the CIFSS playoffs after a 61-0 victory over Paraclete (Lancaster). The Trailblazers have defeated Paraclete in six of the past seven years. They seem locked in as the No. 1 seed for the CIFSS D2 playoffs, avoiding any of the monsters in D1 and benefitting from a playoff system that favors computer rankings over head-to-head results. Going by head-to-head results, Sierra Canyon would be the sixth seed in the top bracket.
11. Norco 8-2
Defeated Roosevelt (Eastvale) 35-24 on Thursday. This clinched the No. 2 spot in the Big VII League for the CIFSS playoffs, but unfortunately it looks like it will be D1 and a likely matchup with one of the big three in the first round.
12. Santa Margarita (Rancho SM) 6-4
Defeated No. 20 Lutheran (Orange) 35-28. This win helps the CIFSS get to an eight-team bracket in D1 but also moves up the Eagles into that top group. Jaxon Potter snuck in for a 1-yard TD with 13 seconds left for the winning points. Potter also finished 34 of 54 for 442 yards and three TDs.
13. Los Alamitos 9-1
The Griffins jumped out to a 34-0 halftime lead and defeated Newport Harbor of Newport Beach 48-6 on Friday.
14. Carlsbad 10-0
The Lancers completed a perfect regular season with a 48-6 victory over Vista in a non-league affair. They will now be headed to the CIF San Diego Section Open Division (4-team bracket) as the top seed. Those pairings were released Saturday. Carlsbad plays next in two weeks vs No. 4 seed Torrey Pines.
15. Buchanan (Clovis) 9-1
Still with a backup quarterback, Buchanan secured a Tri-River Athletic Conference outright championship with a 28-10 victory over Clovis East (Clovis) to wrap up the regular season. The Bears are the top seed for the CIF Central Section D1 playoffs (as announced on Saturday). They are facing Clovis North in their first playoff game.

16. Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) 7-2*
Did not play. The CIF San Diego Section issued a forfeit win to the Dons when they had their scheduled game for Friday at state No. 31 Lincoln (San Diego) not played by the Hornets as a way of protesting how its players have been treated in previous games by Cathedral Catholic players. Cathedral Catholic is joining Carlsbad in the SD Section Open Division. It is playing Mission Hills first and with a win would then play Carlsbad in the final.
17. Alemany (Mission Hills) 5-3
The running game was huge again for Alemany in a 49-21 victory over Chaminade (West Hills). The Warriors had 438 rushing yards in total and star running back Floyd Chalk had 218 of that.
18. Folsom 7-3
For the second time this season the Bulldogs have lost a Sierra Foothill League game, as Granite Bay jumped on the Bulldogs early and pulled out a 31-21 victory.
19. Pittsburg 6-1
It’s six straight for the Pirates, as they cruised to a 51-6 victory over Freedom (Oakley). The 103rd Big Little Game is next week against Antioch.
20. Lutheran (Orange) 6-4
LOST to No. 12 Santa Margarita (Rancho SM) 35-28. The last lead for the Lancers in a great game was 28-21 in the third quarter on a TD pass from Logan Gonzalez to Jake Rosas. Watch out for them in CIFSS D2 playoffs.
21. Mission Hills (San Marcos) 8-2
San Diego’s No. 3 Open Division squad only had a 6-0 lead at the halftime break over San Marcos High, but scored 35 points in the third quarter to pull away for a 41-7 victory. This is the 15th Discovery Bowl victory for Mission Hills. It’ll be Mission Hills vs. Cathedral Catholic in the SD Open semifinals.
22. (23) Warren (Downey) 8-0
Head coach Kevin Pearson’s squad took a 26-16 victory over Downey High to claim a league title.
23. Bishop Amat (La Puente) 7-3
Defeated No. 28 Serra (Gardena) 41-40 in overtime. Mark Thomas of the Lancers broke up a two-point conversion pass that would have given Serra a 42-41 win. Backup QB Dominic Rubio did a great job for Amat after starter Tobin O’Dell suffered an ankle injury in the third quarter.
24. Central (Fresno) 7-1
Defeated Clovis North (Fresno) 35-14. The Grizzlies came back after trailing 14-7 at halftime behind RB Jesiah Lindsey, who wound up with 186 yards rushing and three TDs on 19 carries. They are not the No. 2 seed in the Central Section D1 playoffs, despite having only lost to Buchanan and with a win over Edison of Stockton. They are third behind unbeaten San Joaquin Memorial and play No. 6 seed Hanford in first round.
25. Inglewood 8-0*
The team’s coaches showed little restraint in a 106-0 victory over Morningside (Inglewood). Justyn Martin also rang up 13 touchdown passes in ugly rout. Believe it or not, but 106-0 isn’t a school record at Inglewood, which goes back more than 100 years. The record of 136-0 was set in 1924 vs. San Fernando. The Inglewood Unified School District released a statement on Saturday that was critical of the coaching staff and said there would be an investigation.
TEAMS ON THE BUBBLE
Central Catholic (Modesto) 9-1
The Raiders won the Valley Oak League with a 55-0 rout of Sierra (Manteca). They will now compete with Granite Bay for top seed in Sac-Joaquin Section Division 2.
Edison (Huntington Beach) 7-3
Huntington Beach was no match for Edison, as the Chargers breezed to 41-6 victory.
Edison (Stockton) 9-1
Defeated Franklin (Stockton). A final score was not available. The latest seen was 47-0 after the third quarter.
Etiwanda 10-0
The Eagles went up 21-6 over Upland with less than three minutes remaining and squeezed out a 21-13 triumph.
Granite Bay 8-2
Defeated No. 18 Folsom 31-21. The Grizzlies have losses to Jesuit and Rocklin and could be the No. 1 seed in SJS D2 playoffs.
Jesuit (Carmichael) 9-1
The Marauders secured the Delta League title with a 48-18 victory over Sheldon (Sacramento). They scored 34 points in the second half. Jesuit opened the season losing 56-7 to Folsom, but now will be seeded ahead of Folsom in the SJS D1 playoffs. Part of the reason for that is that the Marauders have a win over Granite Bay and Granite Bay just beat Folsom.
Lincoln (San Diego) 6-2
Did not play. The Hornets dropped out of the top 25 after a loss to Madison (San Diego) and then decided to take a stand for inequality by not playing No. 16 Cathedral Catholic. Lincoln is No. 2 seed in SD Section D1 playoffs behind No. 1 Helix (La Mesa), which obviously got extra power rankings points for playing Servite and Mission Viejo.
Mater Dei Catholic (Chula Vista) 8-0*
Did not play. The Crusaders had their Metro Mesa League game vs. Olympian (Chula Vista) cancelled due to COVID-19 issues at Olympian. This team is the one to beat in CIF San Diego Section D3 playoffs even though it was given No. 2 seed on Saturday behind Mt. Carmel.
Murrieta Valley (Murrieta) 7-3
Defeated Chaparral (Temecula) 55-36 on Thursday. Brandon Rose passed for four TDs as Nighthawks clinched Southwestern League perfect season.
Serra (Gardena) 5-4
LOST to No. 23 Bishop Amat (La Puente) 41-40 in overtime. The Cavaliers had a one-point win early in the season vs. Long Beach Poly.
Simi Valley 10-0
Agoura (Agoura Hills) couldn’t run with Simi Valley, as the Pioneers completed 10-0 regular season with 48-12 victory.
St. Bonaventure (Ventura) 9-0
The Seraphs claimed the Marmonte League title with a 34-13 victory over Oaks Christian (Westlake). Jared Barlow had a 100-yard pick six touchdown to finish the game. Delon Thompson added two rushing touchdowns and had 157 rushing yards.
Torrey Pines (San Diego) 6-3
The Falcons held on for a 29-13 victory over La Costa Canyon (Carlsbad). They will face Carlsbad in two weeks in the SD Open Division semis.
Valley Christian (San Jose) 6-4
Bellarmine jumped out to an early 14-0 lead after a pick six and a kick return for a touchdown and for the first time since 2015, the Bells upended the Warriors with a 45-34 victory.
Vista Murrieta (Murrieta) 8-2
Defeated Murrieta Mesa (Murrieta) 65-7 on Thursday. The Broncos bounced back from a one-point to Murrieta Valley in their previous game.
