Preseason All-East Bay (NCS & Oak)

Not surprisingly, De La Salle of Concord leads the way with four first team and four second team selections. They are not household names, but isn’t that the way it is every year for the Spartans? Pittsburg is close behind with Clayton Valley, Benicia and McClymonds next.

Note: These preseason all-section or all-area teams are done in the same 30-player format as the annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams. They are based on a combination of what the players did last spring and college recruiting. Transfers may not be included if not reported yet, haven’t played for a new school yet, or info on a transfer from previous school isn’t available. Not every all-section team will have writeups of every player. Some will have an intro, then lists.

With such a short season that had a maximum of six games with some teams only playing three or four times, and with no playoffs and very few all-league teams, choosing a preseason team in the East Bay portion of the North Coast Section required a lot of digging, and we relied partially on some of the local media’s postseason honor squads.

It also meant that we talked to a lot of coaches but not just about their players, but for a consensus on some of the new faces emerging on the scene. In the end and after all was said and done, we feel we came up with as best a representation of an All North Coast Section East Bay Area Football Team as possible under the circumstances.

Note: Players from teams in the CIF Oakland Section/Oakland Athletic League are included in the Preseason NCS East Bay Area team.
