It’s hard to believe that we are doing final rankings up against the Fourth of July and with school out for the summer, but before the season began we made it clear we would not let this pandemic wipe out the normalcy of our weekly rankings and yearly postseason honors still to come. We start the postseason with our yearly final expanded rankings, so here they are. Lynwood makes the biggest move after winning CIF SoCal D1-AA championship.

The Big Picture:
It took until the final week and final night of the season to see a change at the top but we now have it, and after that we have a fair amount of shuffling and changes after completion of the CIF Southern California Regional playoffs.
Doing rankings this season with some teams in Southern California playing close to 30 games, and some playing under 15, and Northern California teams with as few as four games, and barely a dozen for most others, has been almost a nightmare. That, coupled with more coaches than usual not reporting their stats on a regular basis due to all the challenges many of them faced, further complicated things.
Having CIF Los Angeles City, Southern, San Diego and Central Section playoffs plus regional playoffs in Southern California that included the Central Section, and with no playoffs in Northern California except in the Central Coast Section, made it difficult to mix and match teams playing entirely different types of seasons.
Lastly, some teams, including a Windward team ticketed for the SoCal regional open division, opted out of those playoffs, and that had to be factored in as well.
While we had some significant changes in the top teams, most of the teams that held tight for these last rankings are from No. 17 to No. 24, and the only newcomer to the final TOP 25 is Mission Hills (San Marcos).
In the end, and with all the loose ends to deal with, we came up with what we think are as fair and accurate a Final Expanded Rankings as was possible. Now, the final craziness of all is that the preseason rankings for 2021-22 are just over the horizon.
