It’s another week with the best single-game totals from football, baseball and softball. We’ll be adding basketball (boys & girls) once football starts to wind down. Football’s best includes more from Kimball of Tracy’s 62-56 win over Patterson (this time focusing on Patterson’s running back) plus Malachi Nelson’s 13-for-13 passing for more than 300 yards and seven TDs (in one half). We also have details from a 24-24 tie in softball from the CIF San Diego Section and a baseball player in San Diego who has homered in five of his last six games.

FOOTBALL

Trevor Appelman (Mater Dei Catholic, Chula Vista)
After opening the season with two wins (one against Helix of La Mesa), Appelman and his team suffered a high-scoring 42-38 loss to Otay Ranch of Chula Vista. The QB still deserves mention as he passed for 406 yards and three TDs. Teammate Darren Barkins also had a banner night with seven catches for 240 yards and three TDs.
