We’re proud to announce the names of 30 young men who have been named to the 15th annual All-State Football Team, presented by Cal-Hi Sports. All players listed with comments and statistics. Players from schools of all sizes and underclass players are all eligible for this elite squad.

Explosive burner had 56 catches for over 1,300 yards in a breakthrough season.
WR Billy Miller (Westlake, Westlake Village) 6-3, 210, Sr.
Closed career with 68 catches for 1,054 yards and a Marmonte League title.
OL Mark Manskar (Canyon, Canyon Springs) 6-7, 250, Sr.
First team all-CIF Southern Section and All-San Fernando Valley pick by the L.A. Daily News is expected to fill out more and become dominant at the next level.
OL Mike McLaughlin (Leland, San Jose) 6-5, 245, Sr.
Possessing excellent footwork, this two-time all-CCS pick has committed to Stanford.
C Paul Driver (Logan, Union City) 6-4, 280, Sr.
Powerful snapper earned first team all-Bay Area honors.

All CIF Southern Section choice is Nebraska-bound and may wind up in the NFL.

Anchored state most powerful O-line to help Monarchs pile up over 5,600 yards of offense.
WR Darrin Chiaverini (Corona) 6-3, 175, Sr.
Led state in receptions with 88 and already committed to Colorado.
QB Kevin Feterik (Los Alamitos) 6-1, 195, Jr.
Overcame early season injury to post phenomenal stats and engineer dramatic comebacks.
RB Steve Wofford (Bakersfield) 5-11, 180, Sr.
Perhaps the best ever from the Central Section: State records of 7,100 yards and 107 touchdowns in three seasons for the Drillers.
RB Ricky Williams (Patrick Henry, San Diego) 6-1, 205, Sr.
Excellent combination of size and speed has emerged as the state top overall running back prospect. He finished his senior season with over 2,000 yards rushing.
PK Chris Sailer (Notre Dame, Sherman Oaks) 5-11, 175, Sr.
One of the simplest picks on this team. He made a state record 22 field goals, including from 58, 57, 54 and 51 yards.
Defense
DL Clyde Sanders (Grant, Sacramento) 6-2, 270, Sr.
Leader of the San Joaquin Section’s stingiest defense, Sanders recorded 18 sacks and forced nine fumbles.
DL David Gates (Morse, San Diego) 6-2, 285, Sr.
Three-year standout is a quick, strong nose tackle who led his team to the San Diego Section Div. I title.
DL Kory Minor (Bishop Amat, La Puente) 6-3, 240, Sr.
Racked up 20 sacks and was equally impressive against the run for a team that was national No. 1 until losing in the CIFSS Div. I final.
LB Nathan Geldermann (De La Salle, Concord) 6-1, 235, Sr.
Plugs holes quickly and among the top defensive players ever for the always-dominant Spartans.
LB Lawrence Larry (Littlerock, Lancaster) 6-3, 230, Sr.
All-Southern Section Division I and heavily recruited by many major colleges.
LB Lester Towns (Pasadena) 6-3, 225, Sr.
Cousin of former all-state Treyvonne Towns, he also rushed for more than 600 yards as a punishing fullback.
LB Cheyane Caldwell (Bloomington) 6-1, 235, Sr.
Most impressive player on national record-setting team was a first team all Southern Section pick.
DB J’Juan Cherry (Berkeley) 6-1, 170, Sr.
First team all Bay Area safety was all over the field and also rushed for more than 1,400 yards for the Yellowjackets.
DB Bryan LaChapelle (Edison, Huntington Beach) 6-1, 190, Sr.
Coach Dave White says LaChapelle is the hardest hitter to ever play at his school. When we have seen him, he attacks the ball and displayed the ability to end the play with his compact hitting style. Fearless over the middle and has solid cover skill as well.
DB Derrick Gardner (Skyline, Oakland) 5-10, 180, Sr.
Dominant cover corner from the school that produced Deon Strother, Will Blackwell and Kwame Ellis.
DB J.R. Redmond (Carson) 6-0, 190, Sr.
One of 10 players in Carson history to roll up more than 1,000 all-purpose yards in consecutive seasons. Excellent in the return game, Redmond shared running back duties with sophomore Patrick McCall and was a hard hitter in the secondary.
P Ignacio Brache (Village Christian, Sun Valley) 5-10, 155, Sr.
Voted all-Southern Section with an average of more than 42 yards per punt.
Multi-Purpose
QB/DB/K Mike Bastianelli (De La Salle, Concord) 6-0, 180, Sr.
State record holder for career PATs led the Spartans with 20 rushing touchdowns, 13 passing. De La Salle went 39-0 in his three seasons and nobody runs its vaunted veer offense better.
QB/DB Ryan Roques (Canyon Springs, Moreno Valley) 5-11, 180, Sr.
Blazing athlete with 4.39 speed sparked 13-1 team to No. 1 spot in the final Division II state rankings.
RB/DB Daylon McCutcheon (Bishop Amat, La Puente) 5-10, 175, Sr.
Mr. Football State Player of the Year and on everybody’s All-American team. McCutcheon consistently played in front of huge crowds for three seasons and when more than 23,000 packed Memorial Stadium in Bakersfield to see Amat take on the Drillers, McCutcheon shined for 218 yards and four touchdowns, while Wofford was held to 22 yards. On defense, the son of former L.A. Ram standout Lawrence McCutcheon had eight interceptions, including two that he returned for scores. As an underclassmen, he was a game-breaking receiver, but finished this season with 2,359 yards on 269 carries and 33 touchdowns.
RB/LB Durell Price (Sylmar) 6-1, 205, Jr.
The L.A. City Section 4A Player of the Year led the Spartans to a 14-0 record and its second section title in three seasons. Price was one of Sylmar’s leading tacklers on defense and went for 1,936 yards and 30 touchdowns.
FB/LB Daren Hooper (Aragon, San Mateo) 6-1, 215, Sr.
Made more than 100 tackles on defense and ranked No. 1 in the CCS with 1,870 yards rushing.
WR/DB Brad Melsby (Los Alamitos) 6-2, 180, Sr.
Orange County’s career leader in catches (185), receiving yardage (2,897) and TD receptions (33). Melsby can cover on defense, and has an uncanny ability to get open with a great set of hands.
