Inspired by a comment from longtime Etiwanda head coach Dave Kleckner, we went through 50 years of California boys basketball in the long break caused by the pqndemic and selected a Public School State Team of the Year for each season. Kleckner had several teams on the list. And despite the rise of Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth), Harvard-Westlake (Studio City) and dominance for many years from schools like Mater Dei, there are a lot of public schools over the 50 years that were No. 1 for all schools public and private.
