Friday, Feb. 8 (Boys)
Inderkum (Sacramento) 77, Roseville 73
The home crowd inside Roseville’s gym was rocking, waiting to celebrate their team finishing 11-1 and winning the championship of the Capital Valley Conference. But a funny thing happened in the fourth quarter of the Tigers’ matchup with Inderkum, also nicknamed the Tigers. Inderkum went on a 23-15 spurt in that quarter to stun Roseville for a comeback win. With the victory, Inderkum forced a three-way tie atop the final league standings with River Valley of Yuba City, which also ended 10-2. River Valley did win in its two second-round games over both Inderkum and Roseville after losing to both in the first-round. Roseville’s Jaylen Solich had a standout game for his team with a game-high 23 points. Cade Triplett and Josh Alger also were in double figures for Roseville with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Head coach Fred Wilson’s club at Inderkum had nearly identical outputs from senior Yaadvir Dhaliwal (15 points), junior Kairee Griffin (14 points) and sophomore Xavier Cates (14 points). Both teams will now move on into the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.
