Teams on the rise include Valley Christian of San Jose, which is up to No. 26 but has to play another fast-riser on Saturday in San Mateo, and Bishop Amat of La Puente, which is up to No. 34 after toppling previous No. 21 Serra of Gardena. Clovis West of Fresno also gets bumped up three positions heading into a big game Thursday vs. Central of Fresno. And finally, congrats to newcomer Ramona of the San Diego Section, which got some help from Point Loma in getting in.

(After games of Saturday, Oct. 21)
26. (30) Valley Christian (San Jose) 7-1
The No. 2 team in the Bay Area News Group rankings gets a bump in this week’s rankings, although we still have both San Ramon Valley and Pittsburg higher in our State Top 50. The Warriors topped Bellarmine of San Jose 28-10 last Friday after having to take a one-week break due to the poor air caused the by North Bay fires the previous week. Juan Turner hit on TD passes of 19 and 71 yards to Sylar Loving-Black and Charlie Bostic, respectively, and then later the team scored again on a punt return by D’Angelo McKenzie and a pick six by D’Von Long. The Warriors have a huge matchup coming on Saturday in San Mateo when they face Serra. A win would just about lock up the title in the famed West Coast Athletic League.
