We didn’t do a column this week, but wanted to record these totals onto the site from last week’s games. This list doesn’t include any SoCal/NorCal players of the week and for those from the CIF Central Section see separate post on this blog. Even more players are mentioned in our various State Top 50 team highlight writeups.
Alex Ashcraft (Cypress): In a 47-26 victory over previously unbeaten Pacifica of Garden Grove, Ashcraft hit on 12 of 23 passes for 273 yards and six TDs. Three of his TDs went to Aaron Bojorquez.
Jayden Daniels (Cajon, San Bernardino): He threw six more TD passes and completed 17 of 21 for 358 yards in team’s 56-14 win vs. Citrus Valley of Fontana. Four of Daniels’ TD passes went to 6-foot-9 junior grid-hooper Darren Jones.
Alex Evans (Roseville): After piling up 305 yards rushing on 30 carries and scoring four times in the Tigers’ 32-25 victory against Bella Vista of Fair Oaks, Evans was named the Sacramento Bee’s Player of the Week.
Miles Hastings (San Marcos): He helped the Knights bounce back from a loss to Torrey Pines by passing for 353 yards and four TDs in a 38-12 win against Carlsbad. In this game, UCLA-bound wideout Kyle Phillips caught two of those TD passes.
Christian Jaime (Western, Anaheim): In handing previously unbeaten Orange its first loss by a 35-29 margin, Jaime was the standout for Western. He rushed for 257 yards and four TDs and caught four passes for 75 yards and another score.
Theori Oliver (Encinal, Alameda): In one of the few Bay Area games played, Oliver helped the Jets get to 7-0 as they beat Hayward 35-10. He rushed for 108 yards and two TDs and also connected on 12 of 18 passes for 170 yards and two scores.
Branden Rankins (Aquinas, San Bernardino): After rushing for 253 yards as Saints beat up on Linfield Christian of Temecula 63-7, Rankins pushed his career rushing total to 7,103 yards. He broke the previous San Bernardino County record of 6,893 set in 2012 by Jacob Taylor from Rim of the World (Lake Arrowhead).
Jayden Wickware (San Diego): In helping the Cavers stay unbeaten with a 34-7 triumph against Kearny of San Diego, Wickware had two interceptions on defense and had five tackles (two for loss). He also rushed for 54 yards and kicked a pair of PATs.
