Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth has to blast upward from the bubble to No. 32 after knocking off previous No. 9 Calabasas. This week’s other two newcomers are Tulare and Lawndale. Plus, Central Catholic of Modesto is now up to No. 26 as buildup for Nov. 3 showdown vs. No. 25 Oakdale starts to get serious.

26. (32) Central Catholic (Modesto) 6-0
While we’ve been building toward several expected showdowns on Nov. 3 such as De La Salle vs. San Ramon Valley and Mission Viejo vs. San Clemente, another one is going to be Oakdale at Central Catholic. We expect both will be in the top 25 of our State Top 50 when that game happens. Central Catholic’s state ranking is also based primarily on its 20-7 win over St. Mary’s of Stockton, which was moved up this week to No. 39 in the state. Head coach Roger Canepa’s team had a ho-hum 70-12 win last Friday vs. Weston Ranch of Stockton and will have another similar game this Friday vs. Lathrop.
