Micah Barnes (Kennedy, Richmond): On just 10 passing attempts, hit on eight for 290 yards and five TDs as Eagles beat Oakland Tech 43-12. Larry Washington Jr. also had four catches for 174 and three and rushed for 105 yards on 15 carries.
Travis Benham (Archbishop Riordan, San Francisco): The one and only Pat the Stat (Riordan and WCAL statistician Patrick Segurson) provided this one. In 42-7 win by Crusaders over Salesian of Richmond, Benham broke a school record by passing ro 410 yards. That he did it on just 11 passes is what was more remarkable. Segurson had Benham 9 of 11 for 410 and five TDs. In the first half alone, he went 7 of 8 for 307 yards and four TDs. Individually, Je’Lani Clark had five catches for 193 yards and two TDs while Max Mezie had 2 for 155 and two.
Spencer Corona (Menlo-Atherton, Atherton): Great all-around game with 12 catches for 184 yards, including a 30 yard touchdown, plus five touchbacks on five kickoffs, a made field goal, two PATs, three tackles and two passes defensed. M-A lost to Archbishop Mitty of San Jose 30-23.
Trent Free (Saint Vincent de Paul, Petaluma): Making his first start, the junior led the Mustangs to a road win over Northern Section Portola 28-6. Free threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns on 12 of 25 passing in a contest that was scoreless at halftime.Throwing for 293 yards in the second half on 7 of 10 passing, Free completed touchdown passes of 90, 70, and 12 yards. The yardage total represents the most by a Saint Vincent player since 1998.
Alex Jung (Sunny Hills, Fullerton): Rushed 27 times for a school record 407 yards and a school record six TDs in 40-3 triumph vs. Dana Hills (Dana Point). Alex also had a school record with a 97-yard TD run.
Dino Kahaulelio (Cardinal Newman, Santa Rosa): He came to play in 48-34 loss to St. Mary’s of Stockton. According to stats from our own Harold Abend, Dino came to play with 14 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one blocked punt.
Rocky Katoanga (El Camino, Oceanside): Linebacker with D1 offers reported with 18 tackles in Wildcats’ 29-22 win against Rancho Bernardo.
Chance Nolan (Paloma Valley, Menifee): Completed 20 of 30 for 359 yards and four TDs during 35-30 triumph over Valley View (Moreno Valley). Three of the TDs went to junior Koale Schroeder.
Dominick Norris (Vista del Lago, Folsom): Rushed for 304 yards and scored four TDs in team’s 50-28 victory against Ponderosa of Shingle Springs.
Bryce Peterson (Downey, Modesto): In a wild 74-49 contest with Patterson in which the Knights led 52-35 at halftime, Peterson connected on 26 of 33 passes for 364 yards and three TDs. He also scored on a run and on a reception.
Francisco Remigio (Schurr, Montebello): Caught 10 passes for 202 yards and two TDs as the Spartans throttled Garfield of Los Angeles 46-14.
Skyler Taylor (La Habra): On just 14 carries, Skyler rose up for 289 yards and seven TDs as Highlanders pounded Tesoro (Las Flores) 45-14.
John Torchio (Campolindo, Moraga): Converted WR went 20 of 27 for 407 yards and one TD and rushed for 109 yards and three TDs in 47-28 win vs. St. Ignatius of San Francisco.
