Marin Catholic and Cardinal Newman may be this region’s most well-known programs in recent years, but heading into 2017 the school with the most preseason All-NCS talent is Rancho Cotate. That’s partly what happens with a returning quarterback who had 3,800 yards passing and his two top receivers coming back as well. One sophomore who hasn’t played varsity yet for Marin Catholic just had to be included as well after up close performance in a scrimmage.
Note: These preseason all-section teams will be done in the same 30-player format as the annual Cal-Hi Sports All-State Football Teams. They are based on a combination of what the players did last season and college recruiting. Not every all-section team will have writeups of every player. Some will have an intro, then lists.

The Redwood Empire is almost always the little brother to the East Bay portion of the CIF North Coast Section and this year is not really that much different.
With Santa Rosa moving from Division 1 to Division 2 last season, there are no Division 1 teams in the Redwood Empire of the 21 total in the NCS.
