St. John Bosco’s 2016 CIF state champions, despite two losses, are going onto this list at No. 41. Part of the reason for that is how highly regarded Mater Dei was at the time of Bosco’s avenging win in the CIF Southern Section D1 final. Both teams from famous 1956 CIFSS title game that drew more than 50,000 fans – Anaheim and Downey – are written up among this group as well.
