Freedom top Pittsburg in NCS rematch on Saturday to earn title tilt against De La Salle. On Friday, in matchup between 11-0 top five squads, Mission Viejo has early edge but can’t hold on in 42-26 loss to Rancho Cucamonga. Two other 11-0 teams also are taken out in CIF Southern Section divisional playoffs – No. 16 Cathedral of Los Angeles and No. 19 Heritage of Menifee.

1. Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 12-0
Defeated No. 24 Vista Murrieta (Murrieta) 63-30. Shakobe Harper rushed for three TDs to back up the usual passing brilliance of J.T. Daniels as Monarchs won in CIF Southern Section D1 quarterfinals.
2. Centennial (Corona) 11-1
Defeated No. 17 Chaminade (West Hills) 66-35. In the early going of the CIFSS D1 quarterfinal, Chaminade was matching scores but couldn’t keep up with the Huskies, who scored on nine straight possessions.
3. St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 10-2
Defeated No. 22 Santa Margarita (Rancho SM) 54-14. The Braves did their part to set up monster CIFSS D1 semifinal next week vs. Centennial with easy win down in Orange County.

4. Mission Viejo 11-1
LOST to No. 5 Rancho Cucamonga 42-26. It looked like the Diablos were the better team in the first half, but they could keep up with the Cougars’ speed. The loss in the CIFSS D1 quarterfinal also snapped the team’s 39-game win streak.
5. Rancho Cucamonga 12-0
Defeated No. 4 Mission Viejo 42-26. The back-breaking play of the game was a 72-yard interception return by Thomas Graham. Rancho advanced to CIFSS D1 semifinal where it will play No. 1 Mater Dei next week.
6. Narbonne (Harbor City) 12-0
Defeated Crenshaw (Los Angeles) 47-7. Head coach Manuel Douglas’ squad actually trailed 7-0 in the early going of CIF L.A. City Section D1 playoff game, but Jalen Chapman to Stephon Robinson combo was clicking all night.
7. Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) 11-0
Defeated Torrey Pines (San Diego) 45-7. The Dons, like the rest of the teams in the SD Section Open Division, didn’t play last week. They play Mission Hills in semis next.
8. De La Salle (Concord) 10-1
Defeated No. 18 Clayton Valley (Concord) 28-0. Kairee Robinson scored on a 49-yard run on the Spartans’ first play. Clayton Valley had several promising drives stopped on downs.
9. Freedom (Oakley) 11-0
Defeated No. 11 Pittsburg 55-35 at home on Saturday in CIF North Coast Section Open Division semifinals. Ronnie Rivers had another great game for the Falcons with 299 yards rushing and six TDs.
10. Murrieta Valley (Murrieta) 10-2
Defeated Norco 65-48. According to Eric-Paul Johnson of the Riverside Press-Enterprise, the Nighthawks had 854 yards of offense in CIFSS D2 quarterfinal. Lika Palmer rushed for 343 yards and four TDs.
11. Pittsburg 9-2
LOST to No. 9 Freedom (Oakley) 55-35 on Saturday in CIF North Coast Section Open Division semifinals. This time, it wasn’t as close as when the Pirates lost 41-38 to end regular season.
12. Calabasas 12-0
Defeated St. Joseph (Santa Maria) 42-19. The Coyotes led 42-0 at halftime of the CIFSS Division V playoff game and were able to play a lot of second-stringers in the second half. It’s the first time in school history they’ve been 12-0.

13. St. Mary’s (Stockton) 11-1
Defeated Pitman (Turlock) 44-7. Jake Dunniway threw for five TDs, three to Keaton Hampton, as the Rams won in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section D1 quarterfinals. They meet 10-2 Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) next.
14. Helix (La Mesa) 9-2
Defeated Valhalla (El Cajon) 14-0. It was more of a ho-hum win for the Highlanders over Valhalla in the San Diego Section Open Division than when the two played just two weeks ago in the regular season finale.
15. Folsom 11-1
Defeated Sheldon (Sacramento) 41-14. The Bulldogs advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section D1 semifinals opposite Elk Grove. They’ve won 18 straight section playoff games.
16. Cathedral (Los Angeles) 11-1
LOST to Rancho Verde (Moreno Valley) 30-16. Great class of seniors at Cathedral end career with loss in CIFSS D3 playoffs to team that has now won 11 in a row after losing season-opener.
17. Chaminade (West Hills) 8-4
LOST to No. 2 Centennial (Corona) 66-35. RB T.J. Pledger kept the Eagles close in the first quarter of the CIFSS D1 playoff game with several long runs. He had a super cast of other juniors and sophs will be back next season.
18. Clayton Valley (Concord) 9-2
LOST to De La Salle (Concord) 28-0. The Ugly Eagles couldn’t finish off drives deep in DLS territory and in the end fell by a wide margin to the two-time defending CIF Open Division state champs.

19. Heritage (Menifee) 11-1
LOST to San Clemente 23-19. Although Mission Viejo lost to Rancho Cucamonga, it generally was a great night for Orange County and one of the teams coming through was San Clemente in a CIFSS D2 win over the previously unbeaten Patriots.
20. Monte Vista (Danville) 11-1
Defeated Heritage (Brentwood) 56-28. QB Jake Haener became the school’s all-time career TD pass leader as the Mustangs advanced to the NCS Division I final.
21. La Mirada 10-2
Defeated La Serna (Whittier) 32-31. A late field goal pushed the Matadores past the Lancers in CIFSS D3 playoffs. They were down 31-21 in the fourth quarter.
22. Santa Margarita (Rancho SM) 7-5
LOST to No. 3 St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 54-14. The Eagles had a tough time getting much going against the Braves’ physical, quick defensive front.
23. Serra (Gardena) 7-4*
Did not play. Season complete. Playoff loss to No. 22 Santa Margarita.
24. Vista Murrieta (Murrieta) 9-3
LOST to No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 63-30. There were a couple of moments when it looked like the Broncos might get closer, such was when the score was 35-16, but each time the Monarchs answered with a quick TD.
25. Rancho Bernardo (San Diego) 11-0
Defeated Oceanside 24-0. This marked the first time in 22 years that the Pirates went out of the San Diego Section playoffs after the first game. The Broncos now play defending champion Helix in the SD Open semifinals.

The IE vs The OC. CC vs SJB and RC vs MD .This could be a IE D1 championship game on December 3rd or a OC championship game at the Big A. A very poor place to play a championship game. Attended the last 3 Pac 5 games there. Best of luck to all 4 teams. But pulling for CC and RC.
Great game last night D1 SS. Again would love to see loser of next game move on as runner up. They play four rounds against top 25 opponents while NCS open = four teams, two rounds with week off between first and second round AND two of four teams that make up the section move on….
