Of course, all eight teams in this week’s CIF Southern Section Division I quarterfinals pretty much all have to be state-ranked. Both Santa Margarita and Vista Murrieta earned their way in by beating previous No. 9 Gardena Serra and previous No. 21 Bishop Amat. All four CIF North Coast Section Open Division teams also remain at least in the top 18.

While it may have been the postseason, the Monarchs made it look like just any other week as they picked up their fourth shutout on the season and scored their highest point total this year with a 69-0 victory vs. Tesoro of Las Flores in the opening round of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs. JT Daniels completed 14 of his 17 pass attempts for 304 yards and five touchdowns and Osiris St. Brown caught two passes for 74 yards and two scores. Freshman Chris Street made the most of his two carries with touchdowns on runs of 62 and 46 yards. Up next is a matchup on Friday night against new No. 24 ranked in the state Vista Murrieta of Murrieta, which just beat previous No. 21 Bishop Amat.
