We’ve got a nice mix of standouts from offense, defense and special teams this week, headlined by players from 61-60 four-overtime game and that 80-64 regulation score. Eric Melesio of Riverside Norte Vista also shined with 487-yard rushing game while Tulare’s Nathan Lamb went 16-for-16 passing and Berean Christian’s Isaiah Hodgins had 11 catches for 254 and five TDs plus a pick six on defense.

Hank Bachmeier & Maurice Bell (Murrieta Valley, Murrieta)
In a game in which Murrieta Valley’s coaches probably were most happy with the defense (which only allowed 102 yards), Bachmeier and Bell once again put up big totals on offense. Bachmeier, a sophomore, hit on 16 of 22 passes for 323 yards and three TDs. Bell, a senior, caught nine passes for 211 yards and all three scores.
Moses Barajas & Larry Morris Jr. (Overfelt, San Jose)
While the team’s offense was being led by Moses passing for 401 yards and five touchdowns in a 46-0 win over Yerba Buena of San Jose, Morris Jr. was leading the defense with 12 tackles and five sacks.

Mikel Barkley (Great Oak, Temecula)
Before coming out late in the game with an injury, he caught seven passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns during a 38-0 win over Temecula Valley of Temecula.
Hunter Bjazevich (Mary Star, San Pedro)
We won’t even attempt to try and figure out how to say his last name but we do know he played a big part in a 33-0 shutout win by the Stars over Verbum Dei of Los Angeles as he intercepted two passes on defense.
Kenneth Carr (Tustin)
While Mater Dei sophomore QB JT Daniels has gotten more attention, this junior running back has become a weekly regular here from Orange County as well as he rushed for 267 yards and four touchdowns on 44 carries during a 28-21 win over Pacifica of Garden Grove.
Marcus Chester-Riley (Woodside)
Games involving The King’s Academy of Sunnyvale are creating a lot of stat stars and this week Chester-Riley makes it for what he did in a 48-41 loss to that team.
Potentially setting two school records in the game, he rushed for 325 yards and six touchdowns.
Justin Collins & Dylan Oliver (Del Mar, San Jose)
Both rushed for over 200 yards during a 71-46 win over Prospect of Saratoga. Collins rushed for 247 yards and four touchdowns on 22 carries while also throwing a touchdown pass while Oliver finished with 222 yards and three scores on 17 carries.
JT Daniels (Mater Dei, Santa Ana)
It would be a bigger shock to see him not put up big numbers in a game than if he did. Daniels’ most recent jaw-dropping outing prior to this week’s showdown with St. John Bosco was him completing 30 of his 36 pass attempts for 406 yards and five touchdowns during a 56-14 win over Orange Lutheran. Osiris St. Brown was his leading target with 11 catches for 149 yards and three scores. If Mater Dei does go all the way to the CIF Open Division state final, he’ll likely reach more than 5,000 yards and 80 TD passes for the season. Breaking Jake Browning’s state and national record of 90 TD passes may be hard, however, because Daniels will never get to play 16 games like Browning did in 2014.
Taniela Fisilau (Burbank, Sacramento)
Just a sophomore, Fisilau scored five touchdowns alone in the first half andf finished with a school-record six rushing touchdowns during a 54-6 win over McClatchy of Sacramento.
Joseph Garcia (Strathmore)
The junior running back matched his career high by scoring six touchdowns for the Spartans when they beat Sierra Pacific of Hanford 42-28. He carried 32 times for 235 yards as head coach Jeromy Blackwell became the 49th coach to reach 100 career wins (100-78 record since 2001) in the CIF Central Section, according to section historian Bob Barnett.
Dulles Hanula (St. Francis, La Canada)
His kicking foot was not dull during a 20-13 win over Salesian of Los Angeles as he kicked field goals of 33 and 47 yards in helping the Golden Knights improve to 7-0 on the season.
Doug Haugh (Redlands)
The Terriers picked up their third win on the season as Haugh terrorized Eisenhower’s defense by rushing for 204 yards and three touchdowns while also catching a touchdown pass in a 40-14 win.
Isaiah Hodgins (Berean Christian, Walnut Creek)
Not only did he catch five touchdown passes but he also had an 80-yard pick six during a 56-36 win over Alhambra of Martinez. On the night, this uncommitted senior had 11 receptions for 254 yards and two interceptions.

Jamarri Jackson (Christian Brothers, Sacramento)
Tying a state record, he was handed the ball from the Falcons’ own one-yard line and 99 yards later he was standing in the end zone. Jackson ended with two touchdowns rushing and caught a touchdown pass during a 40-7 win over Rio Americano of Sacramento.
Michael Johnson Jr. (Kings Academy, Sunnyvale)
Just a sophomore, he passed for 247 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 278 yards and five touchdowns on 17 carries during a 48-41 win over Woodside.
Tye Johnson (Ridgeview, Bakersfield)
He tied a school record when he scored six touchdowns and had a game high of 225 yards rushing in a 65-0 rout by the Wolfpack over West of Bakersfield.
Jahari Kirkendoll (El Camino, Sacramento)
During a 44-8 win over Casa Roble of Orangevale, Kirkendoll recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown while also finishing with 4.5 sacks.
Bradley Kleven (M.L. King, Riverside)
In a 36-35 loss to Norco, Kleven was kept the Wolves in it until the end. He completed 28 of 56 passes for 365 yards and had four TDs and two interceptions.
Sebastian Kronberger (Lakewood)
In that 80-64 win by the Lancers over Compton in a Moore League game that tied the CIF Southern Section record for most post scored by two teams in regulation, Kronberger was one of Lakewood’s standouts with six touchdowns scored. Compton’s Christian Swint also scored six times in the wild and crazy affair.
Nathan Lamb (Tulare)
The sophomore quarterback had a perfect night passing to put his name into the state record book. He finished 16 for 16, the second-best in Central Section history, in a 42-35 victory vs. Delano. Lamb also had 228 yards passing and one TD. Kazmeir Allen, the backbone of the team, also scored four touchdowns.
Reuben Lee (Brookside Christian, Stockton)
He’s only been eligible for the Bruins for two games after a transfer from Lincoln of Stockton, but already has two 200-yard rushing games. Lee had his second in a row with 12 for 220, scored four times and had 10 tackles in a 50-6 romp past Sierra Ridge/Rite of Passage.
Eric Melesio (Norte Vista, Riverside)
With Freddie Holly now at Hawaii, the Braves needed to find another great running back and they have. Averaging just over 22 yards per carry, Melesio carried the football 22 times for 487 yards and six touchdowns during a 55-7 win last week over Patriot of Riverside. Melesio set school records for yards and TDs and his total of 487 is a state single game high although we do have a questionable total of 565 that still needs to be checked out. He also went over 2,000 yards rushing for the season.
Jeremy Moussa (Roosevelt, Eastvale)
He completed 26 of his 42 pass attempts for 517 yards and seven touchdowns during a 56-37 win over Corona. It’ll be curious what Corona Centennial does to Corona in this week’s game.
Josh Oedewaldt (Santana, Santee)
In helping the Sultans improve to 5-3 with a 46-40 triumph over Monte Vista of Spring Valley, Oedewaldt went over 400 yards of offense. He had 341 yards passing and five TDs and rushed for another 66 yards.

Cameron Perry (Grant, Van Nuys)
In the same game in which teammate Eric Gaona had three interceptions on defense plus 260 receiving yards to earn SoCal Defensive Player of the Week honors, Perry had a huge game passing. He completed 14 of 24 for 418 yards and five TDs and rushed for another 54 yards on three carries as the Lancers beat Poly of Sun Valley 42-12.
Robby Rowell (Acalanes, Lafayette)
Having a hand in all five of the Dons’ touchdowns during a 35-14 win over Las Lomas of Walnut Creek, he passed for 331 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 77 yards and two scores.
Josh Siegfried (Granite Hills, El Cajon)
Hilltop of Chula Vista could stop Siegreid’s assaults in a 34-21 loss to the Eagles. The senior QB completed 12 of 22 passes for 221 yards and three TDs and he rushed 13 times for 110 yards and one score.
J.H. Tevis (Menlo School, Atherton)
Making himself at home in the backfield of South San Francisco, Tevis finished with four sacks during a 45-0 shutout win. He’s been among the reported state leaders for sacks both this year and last.
Aaron Thomas (Lincoln, Stockton)
Even in a big loss to Antioch in his first game it was apparent Thomas was capable of having some huge outings when the Trojans played some of the teams in their league. He sure did last week when he hit on 17 of 22 passes for 396 yards and four TDs in a 68-20 victory vs. Lodi. Thomas had 369 of his yards in the first half and only has two interceptions this season, one of which we saw Najee Harris of Antioch get in that opener.
Parker Thomas (Edison, Huntington Beach)
Leading a Charger defense with three sacks, this junior defensive end also had 12 tackles during a 17-9 win over Los Alamitos.
Chris Volek (El Dorado, Placerville)
The nephew of former NFL QB Billy Volek and son of El Dorado head coach Joe Volek had another monster receiving game. This one came in rainy conditions when the Cougars nipped Liberty Ranch of Galt 27-24. Volek caught the game-winning TD pass with 30 seconds left, which put his final totals for the contest at 17 catches for 253 yards. He had eight for 242 and four TDs the week before vs. Rosemont of Sacramento.
Rajah Ward (Homestead, Cupertino)
With his team trailing and its four-game winning streak in danger, he finished the night with 238 yards rushing and three touchdowns for a come from behind 41-37 win over Fremont of Sunnyvale.
Jordan Wilmore (Lawndale)
Just a sophomore, Wilmore is making a name for himself in the South Bay and beyond. He had his second straight stat star worthy effort in a 45-33 win last week vs. Culver City. Wilmore finished with 34 carries for 318 yards rushing and two TDs.
Nicholas Wilson (Cajon, San Bernardino)
While Wilson went for 284 yards rushing on 32 carries and scored three times for the Cowboys and while Yucaipa’s Nathan Martinez had 271 yards passing with four TDs and a 49-yard TD run, the story of last week’s Cajon-Yucaipa game was the final score. Yucaipa won 61-60 in a matchup that took four overtimes to decide. The most amazing aspect of that, however, is that it was only 6-6 at halftime. The two teams both scored 24 points in the second half for a 30-30 tie at the end of the regulation and then just continued to match TDs in overtime.
