Top 10 matchups won by Del Oro and Central Catholic ensure that changes are few in this week’s rankings. The only newcomer is Roseville, which has to come back in to replace American Canyon after it fell to Vanden.

After previous No. 1 Del Oro suffered that 42-7 loss to Folsom two weeks ago, head coach Casey Taylor knew his squad wouldn’t have much time to reflect. Another big game was looming against Rocklin.
This time, the Golden Eagles were the ones doing the dominating as they beat the Thunder 26-14. It was a matchup of the No. 4 and No. 8 teams in the section from last week’s rankings. Senior running back Dalton Gee led the way with 113 yards rushing and two TDs.
Section No. 7 Central Catholic of Modesto also won in a matchup of top 10 teams with an impressive 32-14 triumph over previous No. 10 and previously unbeaten Manteca. DaRon Bland provided more than one gut punch to the Buffaloes with a 102-yard interception return TD, a 99-yard kickoff return TD and a 69-yard TD on a reception. Jared Rice also was tough to stop for the Raiders as he rushed for 180 yards on 25 carries and scored twice, once on a 66-yard burst.
Rocklin still has a head-to-head to win over Whitney of Rocklin and despite the loss did not drop far in this week’s rankings. Manteca fell from No. 10 to No. 15.
This week’s only newcomer in the section rankings is 6-1 Roseville, which despite a recent 42-7 loss to Antelope is the logical replacement for previous No. 15 American Canyon. That team’s loss was to Vanden of Fairfield, which has a loss to a Del Campo of Fair Oaks team that Roseville has beaten. The Tigers also have a win over a Cosumnes Oaks of Elk Grove team that just lost by one point to Antelope. Roseville won last week 57-0 vs. Bella Vista of Fair Oaks but plays Whitney this week.
