It’s all set up for next week as No. 2 St. John Bosco and No. 3 Mater Dei both cruise to wins prior to showdown at Cerritos College. In fact, there wasn’t much trouble for any of the top 25 teams. The only team to lose Friday was No. 22 Bishop Amat and that was to higher-ranked Serra of Gardena.

1. Centennial (Corona) 6-1
Defeated Santiago (Corona) 45-7. Despite score, the Huskies committed several turnovers in the first half that probably didn’t sit well with coaching staff.
2. St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 6-1
Defeated Santa Margarita (Rancho SM) 47-10. After Eagles were down 56-0 at halftime last week vs. Mater Dei, the Braves were only up 13-3 this week. They surged in second half and ended up with easy win.
3. Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 7-0
Defeated Lutheran (Orange) 56-14. Similar to Bosco, the Monarchs had some first-half struggles, trailing 7-0 early and only up 27-14 at halftime. We can all now officially start the hype machine for MD vs. Bosco next Friday at Cerritos College.

4. Mission Viejo 8-0
Defeated San Juan Hills (SJ Capistrano) 57-28. Make it 36 in a row for the Diablos, who will now start to move up the all-time state win streak list in the next few weeks.
5. Narbonne (Harbor City) 7-0
Defeated Carson 59-0. It was sad to get the halftime score of the Gauchos in this one (52-0) and the final score as well. Just remember the glory days of head coach Gene Vollnogle, who in the 1980s was the winningest coach in state history.
6. Rancho Cucamonga 7-0
Defeated Los Osos (Rancho Cucamonga) 65-7. The Cougars are one CIFSS Division I team that based on their history probably shouldn’t be in the same division as the top four.
7. Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) 7-0
Defeated Mira Mesa (San Diego) 45-6. It was no problem for the Dons in their first game out as the consensus No. 1 team from the CIF San Diego Section.
8. De La Salle (Concord) 6-1
Defeated Foothill (Pleasanton) 35-0. Since Foothill had an overtime win over the same San Ramon Valley (Danville) team that came within one point of the Spartans last week, this type of win was welcome news for DLS fans looking for this year’s team to step it up.
9. Serra (Gardena) 5-3
Defeated No. 22 Bishop Amat (La Puente) 28-12. Jalani Eason and Max Williams combined on a touchdown pass to help break it open for the Cavaliers.
10. Murrieta Valley (Murrieta) 5-2
Defeated Chaparral (Temecula) 42-0. No letdown for the Nighthawks after their big win in their previous outing against Vista Murrieta.
11. Monte Vista (Danville) 7-0
Defeated Livermore 37-0. The Mustangs will play two more games at home in the next two weeks before they head to De La Salle on Nov. 4.

12. Calabasas 7-0
Did not play. Coyotes had a bye. They will play Newbury Park next week.
13. Pittsburg 7-0
Defeated Heritage (Brentwood) 63-20. While the twitter world was abuzz with the images of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh watching the Antioch-Liberty (Brentwood) game to check out Antioch’s Najee Harris, the Pirates were taking care of business against previously unbeaten Heritage.
14. Oaks Christian (Westlake Village) 5-2
Did not play. Lions had a bye. They’ll face Camarillo next week.
15. Freedom (Oakley) 7-0
Defeated Deer Valley (Antioch) 42-0. We’re circling the Pitt-Freedom game coming up on Oct. 28 as must-see viewing.
16. Chaminade (West Hills) 5-2
Defeated Alemany (Mission Hills) 28-14. An early TD pass from the highly regarded junior duo of QB Brevin White to Michael Wilson helped lift the Eagles.
17. Helix (La Mesa) 5-2
Defeated El Capitan (Lakeside) 45-14. The best case scenario for the Scotties is to play their way into a rematch with Cathedral Catholic in the SD Open Division playoffs and then post an avenging win.
18. St. Mary’s (Stockton) 6-1
Defeated West (Tracy) 55-0. The only league opponent that might be able to give the Rams much of a test seems to be arch-rival Lincoln.
19. Clayton Valley (Concord) 6-1
Defeated Concord 21-0. It was a workmanlike win for the Ugly Eagles as they retained possession of the Claycord Cup.
20. Folsom 7-1
Defeated Nevada Union (Grass Valley) 54-7. Head coach Kris Richardson said last week that the win over Del Oro would mean nothing if his team “laid an egg” against the Miners. Eggs were not laid.
21. Cathedral (Los Angeles) 7-0
Defeated La Salle (Pasadena) 17-0. The Phantoms’ win over Loyola also looks a little better with the Cubs winning on Friday over Crespi.
22. Bishop Amat (La Puente) 4-3*
LOST to No. 9 Serra (Gardena) 28-12. *Does not include forfeit win. The other losses are to Mater Dei and Loyola but there’s still the wins vs. Servite and JSerra.
23. Long Beach Poly (Long Beach) 5-2
Defeated Jordan (Long Beach) 76-6. That makes it three straight 70-point wins for the Jackrabbits against Moore League opponents.
24. La Mirada 6-2
Defeated Bellflower 48-0. Head coach Mike Moschetti’s team looking good for CIFSS D3 playoffs (along with L.A. Cathedral and Huntington Beach Edison).
25. Valley Christian (San Jose) 7-0
Defeated Bellarmine Prep (San Jose) 28-7 on Saturday. The Warriors clinched no worse than a tie for the West Catholic Athletic League championship.
