Last week on the latest FOX 40 Final Quarter high school football show of the 2016 season, hosts Jim Crandell and Kristina Werner revealed a list of the top five offensive/defensive linemen from CIF Sac-Joaquin Section schools, according to CalHiSports.com.
Here is what that countdown revealed:
1. D.J. Johnson (Burbank, Sacramento) Sr.
Big-time defensive end is committed to Miami and received nearly 50 other college offers.
2. Popo Aumavae (St. Mary’s, Stockton) Sr.
Preseason all-state choice for the Rams is a 6-4, 320-pound defensive tackle who also shines on offensive line.
3. Orlando Umana (Grant, Sacramento) Sr.
Three-year starter for the Pacers has college offers, including one from Washington.
4. Taylor Tonda (Granite Bay) Sr.
Yes, they call him Tank and at 6-2, 290 it’s easy to see why.
5. Chris Martinez (Pitman, Turlock) Sr.
Returning offensive line standout has committed to Nevada, same college that once had Pitman’s Colin Kaepernick.
Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be the top five linebackers this season from the Sac-Joaquin Section. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite game of the week. Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
