This is the place to go for a quick glance at the top teams in California and for some immediate analysis. State No. 4 De La Salle can’t win close game this time and falls, but how good was Utah team the Spartans lost to? A bigger upset was No. 8 Folsom losing to Sacramento 32-27, which broke 44-game regular season win streak and was a loss to another team from the same CIF section.
Here is a look at scores through Friday night, Sept 16. Check back later in the weekend for any updates through Saturday, Sept 17 although no teams are scheduled to play.

1. Centennial (Corona) 3-1
Defeated Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) 48-24. One of the Notre Dame scores came on a pick six, otherwise it might have been more of a typical Huskies’ score.
2. St. John Bosco (Bellflower) 3-1
Defeated Crespi (Encino) 56-7. Braves showed not letdown from loss to national No. 1 Bishop Gorman.
3. Mater Dei (Santa Ana) 4-0
Defeated Upland 62-7. It was 56-0 at halftime over a team that had upset Redlands East Valley last week. JT Daniels had 369 yards passing and six TDs in one half.

4. De La Salle (Concord) 3-1
LOST to East (Salt Lake City, Utah) 23-21. Matt Barker kicked a 39-yard field goal with one second left for Utah’s top team. It’s another out-of-state loss for the Spartans, who still have not lost to a NorCal team (north of Fresno) since 1991.
5. Mission Viejo 4-0
Defeated No. 19 Long Beach Poly 42-14. Head coach Bob Johnson won 320th game with Colin Schooler’s interception return TD being a huge play. The Diablos for sure will move up ahead of De La Salle in next rankings.
6. Narbonne (Harbor City) 3-0
Did not play. The Gauchos had a bye and play next against Paramount. Will they move ahead of De La Salle too?
7. Vista Murrieta (Murrieta) 3-1
LOST to JSerra (San Juan Capistrano) 28-14 on Thursday. During the night, we made a tweet about the Broncos perhaps moving up in the next rankings. Obviously, we didn’t notice it was a Thursday game and had already been played. JSerra will just be another Trinity League team moving up.
8. Folsom 3-1
LOST to Sacramento 32-27. The Bulldogs gave up two touchdowns to the Dragons’ offense in this stunner. Folsom had not lost in a state-best 48 regular season games and had not lost to another team from the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section since 2011.
9. St. Mary’s (Stockton) 4-0
Defeated Cosumnes Oaks (Elk Grove) 42-20. Dusty Frampton had a 55-yard TD run in which he was virtually untouched (tremendous blocking). The Rams should move up in next rankings but won’t go ahead of De La Salle since DLS hasn’t lost to another NorCal team since 1991.
10. Del Oro (Loomis) 4-0
Defeated Capital Christian (Sacramento) 64-13. It wasn’t much of a contest for the Golden Eagles, who will move up to No. 1 in the Sacramento area rankings.

11. Oaks Christian (Westlake Village) 3-1
Defeated Alemany (Mission Hills) 63-62 in 3 OTs. Mycah Pittman had a 12-yard TD run followed by a PAT from Ajay Culhane for the winning points. The Lions earlier won 65-55 in regulation vs. No. 12 Chaminade.
12. Chaminade (West Hills) 3-1
Defeated Bakersfield 28-20 in game played on Thursday. The Eagles came from 20-14 down in third quarter. Game-winning TD on 29-yd run by T.J. Pledger.
13. Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) 4-0
Defeated No. 14 Helix (La Mesa) 35-28. It was a great win for the Dons, who trailed 28-7. Interception return by Je’Von Figaro culminated the rally.
14. Helix (La Mesa) 2-2
LOST to No. 13 Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) 35-28. Rashad Scott helped the Highlanders build lead with 65-yard punt return TD.
15. Elk Grove 3-0
Defeated Alvarez (Salinas) 56-0. That’s three easy wins now in a row for the Thundering Herd.
16. St. Francis (Mountain View) 3-0
Defeated Atascadero 34-13. A 34-yard interception return TD by Bennett Williams helped the Lancers beat the Greyhounds on the road.
17. Monte Vista (Danville) 3-0
Defeated Dougherty Valley (San Ramon) 59-0. Head coach Craig Bergman’s squad will be eventually running into De La Salle before the end of the regular season. It might be a close game.
18. St. Augustine (San Diego) 4-0
Defeated Otay Ranch (Chula Vista) 44-14. The Saints’ resume would have been helped if Loyola could have beaten L.A. Cathedral, but the Cubs lost 21-19.
19. Long Beach Poly (Long Beach) 1-2
LOST to No. 5 Mission Viejo 42-14. TDs by Aaron Shampklin on a run and Camren McDonald on a pass reception from Nolan McDonald helped the Jackrabbits stay close in the first half.

20. Calabasas 4-0
Defeated Pacifica (Oxnard) 47-28. A 90-yard TD pass from Tristan Gebbia to Darnay Holmes put this one away. Gebbia had earlier TD passes to Keyshawn Johnson Jr.
21. Pittsburg 4-0
Defeated Berkeley 64-12. Montaz Thompson had another big game for the Pirates with 205 yards rushing and four TDs in just the first half.
22. Clayton Valley (Concord) 3-1
Defeated James Logan (Union City) 70-8. The Ugly Eagles doubled up on their score of 35 points from the previous week vs. Canyon Springs of Nevada.
23. Santa Margarita (Rancho SM) 3-1
Defeated Westlake (Westlake Village) 49-0. First loss to Mission Viejo continues to look not that bad and wins against Alemany and Loyola continue to gain strength.
24. Bishop Amat (La Puente) 3-1
Defeated St. Paul (Santa Fe Springs) by forfeit. The Swordsmen were involved in a brawl one week ago against Notre Dame of Riverside. Both teams couldn’t play this week.
25. Servite (Anaheim) 2-2
Defeated Villa Park 41-32. The Friars moved up after almost beating De La Salle and got a test from the Spartans.

Time to bump Helix out ?……Rancho Bernardo and Oceanside without the hoopty hoop hoopla are playing well at moment.
Not sure RB or Oside has beaten an opponent like Clayton Valley yet. Also, it’s not as if Helix got blown out by CC. Close game.
Rancho Cucamonga will be in your top 10 within the next 3 weeks write it down. They got 4 transfers from Upland after Corona Centennial was denied in taking them there. They are eligible to play after week 4 and these guys are all quality starting defensive players. Corona Centennial would have beat IMG had those 4 players been allowed to play there this year.
Centennial should have beaten IMG anyway if they just ran clock down and kicked FG.
Agree that a top 10 ranking for Rancho Cucamonga is possible. After the first four and maybe Narbonne, it’s hard to say yet how good the next teams in line in the top 10 really are.
