Last week on the latest FOX 40 Final Quarter high school football show of the 2016 season, hosts Jim Crandell and Kristina Werner revealed a list of the top five running backs from CIF Sac-Joaquin Section schools, according to CalHiSports.com.
Here is what that countdown revealed:
1. Elijah Dotson (Antelope) Sr.
Son of former Grant star Robert Dotson rushed for 1,500 yards and 16 TDs last season.
2. Tariq Hollandsworth (Sacramento) Sr.
He’s also a very good linebacker but as a running back had almost 1,400 yards last season with 23 TDs.
3. Dusty Frampton (St. Mary’s, Stockton) Jr.
Powerful back scored six TDs in Rams’ first game against San Mateo Serra, Tom Brady’s high school.
4. Isaiah Montanez (Golden Valley, Merced) Sr.
He had 330 yards rushing in his first game and just Google his name and see the moves he made at some of the football camps he’s been to.
5. Jared Rice (Central Catholic, Modesto) Sr.
No relation to Justin Rice of last year’s team, but had 272 yards in first game and may finish with huge totals.
Watch this week’s show Friday at 11 p.m. for all the local highlights, plus the next Top 5 from CalHiSports.com, which will be the top five receivers and tight ends this season from the Sac-Joaquin Section. The show will include highlights from all of the biggest games in the region, including the Fan Favorite game of the week between Wood of Vacaville and American Canyon. Thanks to host Jim Crandell and the FOX 40 team for once again letting Cal-Hi Sports be part of this year’s show.
