Previous No. 7 San Mateo Serra, No. 9 J.W. North and No. 12 Mira Costa become first state-ranked teams to lose in section playoffs and see their seasons end. Top-ranked Buchanan, meanwhile, is down to just two more wins in the CIF Central Section before it locks up State Team of the Year selection. We’re not quite ready for double-digit loss teams to be in the State Top 20, but that may happen by next week.
