First losses of the season for Oaks Christian and East Union of Manteca cause some changes as do upsets by Livermore and Carondelet over previous No. 5 Amador Valley. CIF Southern Section Division I top seeds continue to occupy three of the top four slots but our order doesn’t match the seeds. This week’s only newcomer is Oakdale, which avenged its only loss with its win over East Union.

1. (1) LUTHERAN (ORANGE) 26-3
Yes, we’re well aware that Etiwanda and not Orange Lutheran is the top seed for the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs. In the case of the Lancers, Eagles and Los Alamitos, the top three seeds in the bracket, it actually doesn’t matter because if any of the three wins it all then that team is going to be the state’s top-ranked team. With Harold Abend of our staff in the house, but representing Prep2Prep.com, Orange Lutheran won its final regular season game 6-0 over Santa Margarita. Amelia Van Orman and Mackenzie Boesel both hit home runs while Noelie Hee had a pair of run-scoring singles. Orange Lutheran will start its playoff push on Thursday with an opening round game against Los Altos of Hacienda Heights.
