Norco knocks off Etiwanda from No. 1 ranking to create move up for idle Los Alamitos. Both Norco and Los Al and No. 2 Mission Viejo will all be in this week’s Michelle Carew Classic. Many of the top teams in NorCal, meanwhile, will be at the Livermore Stampede.

1. (2) LOS ALAMITOS 12-1
It’s Michelle Carew Classic week in Southern California softball and it’s safe to say the state’s No. 1 ranking will be on the line, especially if either Los Al or new No. 2 Mission Viejo win the title. As mentioned last week, we thought there was a good chance the Griffins would be No. 1 when they came back from spring break. That happened with previous No. 1 Etiwanda losing its first game to previous No. 5 Norco. Los Al’s only loss is to Mission Viejo, but the Griffins also have a win over the Diablos and they won the title in the same Tournament of Champions bracket in Arizona in which the Diablos lost in the semis. Los Al’s first game in the Carew on Tuesday is against El Toro.
