Among those chosen for this week are a baseball pitcher with a 0.00 ERA so far this season and a softball slugger who hit five homers in three days. The honorees represent San Diego, Dana Point, San Mateo and Stockton.

Baseball Player of the Week
Jack Dashwood (St. Augustine, San Diego) Sr.
Not allowing El Capitan of Lakeside to get good wood on the bat, he allowed just four hits over six innings while striking out seven as the Saints defeated the Vaqueros 7-0. Helping his cause at the plate, Dashwood also had two hits, including a double while driving in a run.
On the season, Dashwood began this week 4-0 with a 0.00 ERA and has not allowed an earned run over 26 innings.
Earlier this season, this 6-foot-6 left-hander who has committed to UC Santa Barbara and has had a 91 mph fastball pitched seven shutout innings while allowing just one hit and striking out 16 during a 2-0 win over Parker of San Diego.

Softball Player of the Week
Serafine Parrish (Dana Hills, Dana Point) Jr.
We have thought about picking Parrish a few times already, but the time finally has come for this Portland State-commit to take home this honor after huge back to back season-best performances in the circle which included her setting her career-high in strikeouts.
First, during the Dolphins’ 11-0 win over Trabuco Hills of Mission Viejo, she allowed just three hits while striking out 15 before an even better 19 strikeouts later in the week during a 7-1 win over Tesoro of Rancho Santa Margarita.
Against the Titans, she did not allow a hit until the seventh inning and the run allowed was unearned. Just a junior, Parrish has now struck out 161 batters in 99 innings this season.

Hunter Bishop (Serra, San Mateo) Sr.
At the Northern California Boras Classic one week before, this 6-foot-4, 205-pound outfielder was one of the best players and helped Serra to a runner-up finish to Davis. Bishop then had an even better week in three Padre wins that helped them move up into the top 10 of this week’s state rankings.
The week began with him going 2-for-3 with a double in a win against San Ramon Valley of Danville. Up next, 4-for-4 with a homer, double and three RBI in a win against Redwood of Larkspur. Then against state-ranked College Park of Pleasant Hill, Bishop went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI.
In January, Bishop switched from being a preferred walk-on at Washington to a baseball scholarship at Arizona State. He caught seven TD passes in football last season and at one time played quarterback. He’ll be headed to a college that once had another Serra Padre in the outfield named Barry Bonds.

Softball Player of the Week
Saige Pye (Bear Creek, Stockton) Jr.
The meaning of Pye at Bear Creek is home runs on the softball diamond.
Standing just 5-foot-6, Pye may not look like she has tons of power but that would not be a wise thought to have. She homered in three straight games last week and hit a total of five home runs in a three-day span.
With just two home runs previously on the season, Saige got things going with a 4-for-4 performance during a 12-6 win over Stagg of Stockton that saw her hit three home runs and drive in five runs for the Bruins. She followed that up with a home run the next day in a loss to Ripon and also homered against Orestimba of Newman.
Last season, Pye was named first team All-Area by the Stockton Record for the second time. She has a chance to be locally honored for all four of her high school seasons.
