In the fourth and final installment of new video series in which we go over our own CIF state bowl board for both Northern and Southern California, Cal-Hi Sports editor Mark Tennis wraps it up by comparing what we might have done with what the CIF section commissioners actually did in placing teams into new 13-division state bowl series.

After a weekend of the usual upset or two sprinkled in favorites winning, all 50 teams that qualified for the 2015 CIF state football bowl game series found out last Sunday which divisions they would be in and where they’re playing, but why it happened in the manner it did may still require some explanation.
We decided to create a series of videos in an attempt to erase much of the confusion about how this new CIF bowl game system, in which every section champion gets to go on to either a Northern California or Southern California regional bowl game in various, expanded divisions, will work.
The first two videos in the series were more about explaining the process. For the third one, we wanted to dive deeper into the actual projected matchups and give more reasons why the CIF section commissioners will not simply be looking at computer rankings to “place” these teams into each division.
Now for the fourth and final video, we’ll go over the board that the CIF itself picked and try to add more breakdowns, provide an educated guess where the four Open Division Small School teams may rank and look at some of the projected matchups for the CIF state finals coming up in less than two weeks.
Some notes about this video:
•It was done this week once again in the Stockton office of Cal-Hi Sports and shot by Stockton office assistant editor Paul Muyskens.
•Congratulations to new teams that got themselves on the board in the final week of section playoffs: Del Oro of Rocklin, St. Bernard’s of Eureka, Sacred Heart Prep of Atherton, Citrus Hill of Perris, Oak Hills of Hesperia, La Mirada, Saddleback Valley Christian of San Juan Capistrano, San Marino, Liberty of Bakersfield, Chowchilla and Fairfax of Los Angeles.
•There was one error in the presentation and that was mentioning that Citrus Hill defeated previously unbeaten Serrano. The Hawks actually defeated previously unbeaten Heritage of Menifee.

Del Oro is in Loomis we dislike Rocklin
Mark,
I thought this last video of the 2015 CIF football playoffs was very well done and explained very well. Couple of comments, though.
I think Oak Grove and Ridgeview both got home field advantage over their seemingly stronger opponents is because, I think it’s fair to say, their playoff section divisions were overall stronger than their opponents’ section divisions.
Pleasant Valley did play River Valley (8-2) at home and beat them 35-21. Inderkum,at 12-1 and made the SJS D3 semis, beat River Valley 48-21 ay River Valley. River Valley was second in the Tri County and lost in 1st rnd of SJS D3.
That’s true, but I look more at how a team does against its best opponents and not overall section playoff division. Kind of doubt Oak Grove is one-point less than Folsom or Ridgeview could play Serra (Gardena) into OT. Doesn’t matter too much because they’re playing the games and we’ll see.
