We are announcing a new initiative this week in which we combine our files with the football scores collected for more than 40 years by legendary sports researcher Bruce McIntosh.
He might be 84 years of age, but sports researcher Bruce McIntosh can still recall many of the highlights he’s collected over five decades of work.
We’ve known Bruce since the 1970s when he began to correspond frequently with our founder, the late Nelson Tennis, who died in 2004. Bruce and Nelson became great friends (along with CIF Central Section historian Bob Barnett) and were known to spend entire weekends going through their various projects (Nelson’s was the state record book), comparing what they found in numerous trips to local libraries and in Nelson’s case the state library.
One of Bruce’s main passions, besides Notre Dame football, was trying to categorize, collect and file the football scores of every high school in California.
It’s been a difficult few years for Bruce due to having to move from San Pedro to Rio Vista but his card files have stayed intact and we’re now working with him to provide archives for as many schools in the state that want them.
For a fee, based on the length of a school’s football history, Cal-Hi Sports can provide interested schools with game-by-game scores for every season. Del Oro of Loomis was the first school that has had its football archive completed. Tracy was next and has been followed by San Clemente, Crespi of Encino, Escalon, St. Mary’s of Stockton, Cardinal Newman of Santa Rosa, St. Bonaventure of Ventura, Oak Grove of San Jose, Oakdale, Justin-Siena of Napa, Lompoc, Palma of Salinas, Marin Catholic of Kentfield, Carmel and Los Banos. Another school that will be done is Stagg of Stockton.
Every school that orders the work also will have a story about its football history posted on CalHiSports.com. The fees vary from $169 to $199 depending on 10-year increments of a school’s existence.
We know that some schools already have had archivists and hobbyists collect this information, but many do not. We also know that newer schools with less than 20 years or even 30 years of football may not apply.
Still, if your school is on this list, has never had its football archives completed and think this would be something your faithful would love to see, please call or email us today for details. Contact: Mark Tennis at markjtennis@gmail.com or call 209-463-9050.

Note: The reason you don’t see any schools from the CIF San Diego Section on this list is because the ParletonSports.com web site already has those schools totaled up on its site while schools from the CIF Central Section have their football records and scores maintained by Bob Barnett.

That’s great that Palma’s HC got in touch with you. I can’t wait to read it.
Where can I find records for Nevada Union?
We have Nevada Union’s football scores on index cards, but not in digital form.
All of these schools paid a fee for us to do this work for them.
How can I view or gain access to any records ya’ll may have? The History Highlights ya’ll do are nice but I don’t see one for Nevada Union.
The schools listed in this section paid a fee to have their all-time football scores sent to them in a file and then we wrote up the history highlights about it. We’re not currently selling the program but if Nevada Union wanted it we’d do the work.
Dear: The Bakersfield High School Driller’s defeated the Centennial High School Golden Hawks, in over time, 37 – 30, last Friday night, the 26th – Was that the 800th football win in the school’s history, since February 22, 1893??
By our totals, which do not count forfeits or defaults, we had BHS with 795 at start of spring. That total also would count rugby as football wins when rugby at one time was viewed as a substitute for football. If someone at the school wants to count forfeit wins or default wins and say it’s 800, they may not be wrong. It’s just not going to be the same total we use for state records.
