Player comes up one short of 50 in team’s one-point loss. Plus, more huge totals for Maranatha’s Tyler Dorsey and Cordova’s Jordan Roberson. For the girls, it’s 35 points for a McDonald’s All-American and 35 points for a McDonald.
As has been customary for many years, we collect the state stat stars in support of the Cal-Hi Sports State Record Book & Almanac. The book has been published seven times (the most recent, though, was 2009) and is as official as a state record book can be since no other exists. BOYS BASKETBALL
Gabriel Torres (Pioneer, Woodland)
Despite an amazing performance against Inderkum of Sacramento, Gabriel had to be a bit disappointed as he not only was one point shy of hitting 50 but the Patriots also lost by one point during an 88-87 final that saw him make 16 free throws and finish with 49 points. Torres is averaging 27.4 points per game.
Tyler Dorsey (Marantha, Sierra Madre)
He’s now getting comparisons to previous local scoring legends such as Tracy Murray (Glendora) and Greg Goorjian (Crescenta Valley). Dorsey scored at least 40 points in all three games last week as he scored 43 points during a 71-54 win over Whittier Christian of La Habra and 40 points during a 67-61 win over Valley Christian of Cerritos. He ended the week with 49 points and 10 rebounds during a 71-59 win over Centennial of Las Vegas. His average is now up to 34.1 ppg.
Jordan Roberson (Cordova, Rancho Cordova)
Already with one 40-point performance from earlier this season, Roberson scored a season-high 44 points during a 97-82 win over Liberty Ranch of Galt and its stat star, DeAndre Stallings. Earlier in the week, Roberson had 30 points during a 86-32 win over El Dorado of Placerville. This season, Roberson is sizzling with a 32.6 ppg average and is up to nearly 20 ppg for his career.
Paris Austin (Bishop O’Dowd, Oakland)
Named as our NorCal Boys Player of the Week, this Boise State-bound senior made 12 3-pointers for a school record and entry into the state record book as the Dragons defeated Piedmont 108-77. Austin also finished with a school record 43 points.
Jake Linsky (Northwood, Irvine)
His performance during a 85-73 road win against University of Irvine was one for the school’s record book as he scored 42 points and grabbed 26 rebounds.
Clayton Ladine (Burton, San Francisco)
While it wasn’t the 63 points he scored the week before, Ladine had two big games last week. First, he scored 42 points during a 74-56 win over International Studies Academy of San Francisco and had 40 points during a 102-64 win over Academy of Arts and Sciences of San Francisco.
Ajaypal Singh (Cupertino)
This junior scored 39 points during a double overtime win by the Pioneers against Lynbrook of San Jose. Before this game, the 6-foot-4 junior had a season high of 26 points.
DeAndre Stallings (Liberty Ranch, Galt)
In a game that saw two players earn a spot in this week’s state stat stars, Stallings scored 37 points as the Hawks lost to Jordan Roberson and Cordova of Rancho Cordova 97-82.
Tyler Burch (Westminster)
First place was on the line in Golden West League play and Burch made sure the Lions would pick up a 75-67 win. He hit eight 3-pointers and finished with 35 points and seven assists.
Josh Allen (Firebaugh)
The senior helped head coach Jim McCall reach 400 wins and more in 36 years of coaching with league victories last week against Coalinga 80-23 and 88-77 Mendota. Allen led the way in scoring with a game-high 34 points against Mendota.
Kyle Roach (Marin Academy, San Rafael)
One of the leading scorers in the state, Roach scored 34 points and grabbed 11 rebounds during a 79-70 loss against University of San Francisco. On the year, he is currently averaging 34.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Jeremy Hemsley (Damien, La Verne)
Considering the opposition was from state-ranked Chino Hills, Hemsley had one of the top outings of the week with 33 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists to lead the Spartans past the Huskies 94-78. With the win, the San Diego State-bound Hemsley and his teammates moved into first place in the Baseline League.
David Rico (Kerman)
Standout sophomore scored a game-high of 33 points in a 67-54 win by the Lions over Chowchilla.
Eddie Stansberry (Archbishop Riordan, San Francisco)
There was a good reason why Riordan ended a 17-game losing streak to powerhouse Archbishop Mitty last Saturday at the Crusader Forum. Stansberry was out of his mind. The 6-foot-3 junior forward hit for 21 points in the second half alone (making 6 of 10 field goals) and finished with 32 points. Riordan topped the Monarchs 53-40.
Joshua Dorsey (Duarte)
Averaging 22 points and 18.7 rebounds per game, this double-double machine had 30 points and 27 rebounds during a 72-62 loss last week to Azusa. His 27 rebounds was one shy of his season-best mark when he grabbed 28 rebounds and scored 30 during a 62-47 win back in December against Bassett of La Puente.
Jordan Rohan (Canyon, Anaheim)
While he was five made free throws away from getting his name into the state record book, he did knock down 16 free throws and scored a game-high 28 points during a 67-63 loss against Foothill of Tustin in their Crestview League opening game.
Daniel Giannosa (Big Valley Christian, Modesto)
Giannosa has been a force in the paint all season and is now averaging more than 20 rebounds per game. He scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds during a 76-45 win over Stone Ridge Christian of Merced and then had 25 points and 24 rebounds during a 53-47 win over Turlock Christian of Turlock.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Kayla Washington (Cajon, San Bernardino)
Scoring just over half of the Cowgirls points during an 80-24 win over Citrus Valley of Redlands, she finished with 41 points and 21 rebounds. Washington also finished three assists shy of a triple-double as she had seven assists and four steals.

Someone we make sure to look up every week is this talented senior post player. Last week, she scored 40 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Sundevils defeated Serra of San Diego 60-45.
Milan Moses (Dublin)
The MVP of the West Coast Jamboree’s Sapphire Division last month, Moses erupted for 37 points in an 81-65 loss in a DFAL shootout with Miramonte of Orinda. The two–time All- DFAL basketball pick is a D-1 soccer commit to San Diego State and is averaging 25.4 points in league games this year. She also is averaging 16.6 points for the season.
Hailey Pascoe (Clayton Valley, Concord)
Making 15 free throws, she finished with 37 points during a 70-62 win over Castro Valley at the Corner Bakery Showdown in Lafayette. Her performance helped her get selected earlier this week as the Northern California Player of the Week.
Amber Melgoza (Santa Barbara)
For those that report stats to MaxPreps, she leads the state averaging 34.7 points per game after scoring 37 points and grabbing 11 rebounds during a 61-46 win over Rio Mesa of Oxnard. Melgoza is just a junior.
Rebecca Gallis (Kern Valley, Lake Isabella)
The Broncs’ junior captain scored 36 points during a 69-20 win over Frazier Mountain of Lebec. Cleaning up the defensive glass, 16 of her 22 rebounds on the night came on the defensive side while she also had four assists.
Katie Lou Samuelson (Mater Dei, Santa Ana)
Before being named to the McDonald’s All-American Game earlier this week, she scored 35 points last week during a 61-47 win over Fairmont Prep of Anaheim.
Destiny Littleton (Bishop’s, La Jolla)
After back-to-back 40-plus point performances the week before, Littleton scored 35 points and grabbed 13 rebounds last week but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 71-69 loss for the Knights to Santa Fe Christian of Solana Beach.
Aarion McDonald (Brookside Christian, Stockton)
As the slogan says, she’s lovin’ it as a scoring machine this season. McDonald scored 35 points and had nine assists and six rebounds during a 86-50 win last week over VA Excel of Stockton. She will once again find her way on this list next week as she already has a triple-double that was just two steals shy of a quadruple-double.
Destanee Alexander (Kennedy, Richmond)
Helping the Eagles end a lengthy losing streak, she scored 32 points and had eight rebounds in a 65-52 victory over Kelseyville. Alexander has been one of the top scorers in the NCS all season and is now at 23.4 ppg.
Terrin Sullivan (Douglass, Los Angeles)
Some of these L.A. City small school totals can be hard to swallow but here they are for Sullivan. She had 32 points in a 78-6 win against New Designs and then had 25 points, 22 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Lions past Animo Robinson 67-17.
Makaila Sanders (Rio Linda)
Honored earlier this season as a NorCal Player of the Week, Sanders is a name to start getting used to hearing. The freshman scored 31 points last week during a 61-53 loss to Inderkum of Sacramento.
Jessica Malazarte, Chelsea Lidy & Christine Delapina (Bishop Montgomery, Torrance)
Malazarte had the big game last week as she scored 31 points during a 78-47 win over Bishop Amat of La Puente but it was her teammates that hit career milestones. Lidy went over 1,000 career points earlier in the week in a game against Serra of Gardena and Delapina with 18 points in the win over the Lancers joined her with over 1,000 career points.
Nay Nay Martin (Roosevelt, Fresno)
She kept her team in the North Yosemite League race by scoring 31 points in a 46-38 win over McLane of Fresno.
Jaelyn Brown (Vista Murrieta, Murrieta)
Quality of competition gets Jaelyn a writeup even though she didn’t hit 30 points. What she did do was collect a double-double of 28 points and 16 rebounds in a 69-53 win by the Broncos over defending Division I state champion Canyon Springs of Moreno Valley.
Britney Thomas (San Jacinto)
Filling up the stat sheet all week, she had 17 points, 20 rebounds and eight assists during a 70-48 win over Tahquitz and 20 points with 18 rebounds during a 57-22 win over Beaumont.
Delacy Brown (Poly, Riverside)
Not far from a triple-double during a 48-38 win over Rancho Verde of Moreno Valley, Brown had 28 points, eight rebounds and eight steals. The Bears improved to 9-12 heading into this week.
Skyler Lewis (Grand Terrace)
While she doesn’t play at a school that gets lots of attention, her performances this season have deserved some attention which is why we selected her as our SoCal Girls Player of the Week. Lewis scored 24 points and grabbed 21 rebounds during a 59-18 win over Colton. Headed to play basketball at UC Riverside, she went over 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds earlier this month.
