For football players interested in improving their speed for the upcoming spring combine and camp season – plus spring sports athletes everywhere – Cal-Hi Sports and its partners at Gold Medal Excellence speed training are announcing that the first Southern California Speed Camp will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Palisades High of Pacific Palisades.
“It’s amazing when you go to a combine and watch kids run the 40-yard dash,” said Chris Asher, who will be director of the camp and has coaching experience with USA Track & Field. “More than half of them have never been coached at all about how to do it and all of them could do better.”
Asher should know. Last summer, he worked with Arizona Cardinals’ defensive back Antonio Cromartie and helped him reduce his 40-yard dash time to 4.32 seconds.
The camp will run from four hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include drills and instruction to help all athletes improve their speed. A sign-up page already is up and running for the event. To check it out, CLICK HERE.
The Palisades stadium is historical to high school football in many ways. It’s where David Koral of the Dolphins set many state passing records, although the still-standing state record of 764 yards passing for one game came at Grant of Van Nuys. It’s also been filmed on the ABC hit comedy “Modern Family” as the host school of one of the characters on the show, who is head coach of “the Dolphins.”
Each camper at the event will be presented a t-shirt and more takeaways. Cost is $40 per early registration and can go up to $70 on the day of the event. You want to sign up for this event now. For more info, CLICK HERE.
Getting instruction from a speed coach like Chris Asher can help get you a 40-time and more that can turn people’s heads.
P.S. Watch for a similar announcement soon about the Cal-Hi Sports Northern California Speed Camp.
